Noob Question

Posted on 10/12/2011 10:19:10 AM PDT by CaptainKrunch

As a noob to the FR, I noticed that when I post a reply to a topic that I get a message saying that my post "will be looked over" or something to that effect before it actually gets posted. Now, I know that this must be a security barrier to keep left-wing trolls at bay, but it is also a slight hindrance to free flow of conversation in a dissucssion if you have to wait 24 hours or whatever for EVERY post you reply to show up.

Is there somekind of seniority system? Like, after so many accepted posts that you make, you then get security clearance as a non-troll and your posts thereafter get submitted immediately? I mean, how can I make a point for REPLIES to MY posts if I have to wait 24 hours for every post I make to pass muster?

Don't get me wrong. I hate trolls. I am glad FR actively maintains the conservative integrity of it's site. As a matter of fact, I have come to the Free Republic as refuge from another conservative forum that got over-run with super aggressive Ron Paul cult worshipers, 9-11 conspiracy kooks and outright Marxist board infiltrators. The Tree of Liberty. Anyone got any experience with that forum?

Anyway, just wondering about the post submition policy. Forgive me if I'm not supposed to mention other conservative web sites on the FR in a critical manner.

Give it a week or so, or a certain number of posts. The same happened to me for a few days.

If you attempt to post a comment to a thread, and click the POST button, you will get that message.

If you click the item “I have already previewed...” or click the PREVIEW button, you will not get that message.

The message is designed to give you a chance to preview your post before posting — since FR does not have an EDIT.

We are doing things like this now? I never had that happen when I joined. It seems like a good idea considering the amount of trolls rolling in here during election cycles.

Just keep posting. I am guessing you will soon be off the watch list, unless you are posting opinions I personally disagree with. Then you should be Zotted. LOL.

First you must learn the proper Internet lingo.

A “noob” is a begging, lying, spamming, cheating and extremely annoying person.

A “newbie” is a person that is new to the site who is very innocent compared to a noob.

Welcome to a real Conservative forum

Try to be patient oh young apprentice, the FR-Jedi Masters are determining if it is the (conservative) Force that is with you, or the FARCE, because we get a whole bunch of trolls in here on a daily basis, sometimes when they can't post immediately, they start spamming via FReepmail, but they don't last long.

If you are a refugee from a Ron Paul-infested website, that already speaks well of your conservative credentials.

This must be the reason.

Cap’n Crunch sails into obscurity
Quaker Oats
By Ryan MacClanathan, contributor
The Soggies have finally won: Cap’n Crunch is quietly sailing into retirement.

Long derided by health experts for its high sugar content – a single serving contains 12 grams – the cereal is no longer being actively marketed by Quaker, DailyFinance reports. It appears parent company PepsiCo is forcing the good Cap’n to walk the plank.

Cap’n Crunch was once the No. 1 breakfast cereal, but pressure from the White House and health activists is having an effect on how PepsiCo and other food companies peddle their products to kids. Sales of the cereal were down 6.8 percent in 2010.

Last year, PepsiCo vowed to reduce added sugar per serving by 25 percent and saturated fat by 15 percent in its products over the next 10 years.

“PepsiCo is no longer marketing Cap’n Crunch cereal directly to children. In a sense, you could say that they have retired Cap’n Crunch, and that’s a good thing,” Jennifer Harris, of the Rudd Center for Food Policy & Obesity at Yale University, told DailyFinance. “Unfortunately, children continue to view hundreds of ads per year for high-sugar cereals from General Mills, Kellogg’s and Post Foods.”

The critics have a point: Children cereals contain 85 percent more sugar, 65 percent less fiber and 60 percent more sodium when compared with adult cereals, according to the Rudd Center research. The average preschooler has viewed more than 500 television ads for such cereals.
