You might have something there. The term “collector” implies that these things are worth something, or will be in the future.

I spent a good part of my adult life buying crystal, knick knacks, etc. But no more. I like the look of uncluttered surfaces and am short of money now anyway!

In the case of my Mom and Aunt, they had the historical value books for Bradex etc. They really thought they were worth something. Knickknacks don’t get written into Wills, items of value or perceived value do.

Steuben crystal closing November 29th!!!

Never had the wedding crystal, porcelain & silverware. Wouldn’t have used it. Part of that ‘keeping up with the Joneses’ in the 50’s & 60’s.

Dittoes that! Had a roommate who was into “collectables”, shelves of them! Every Saturday it was pick ‘em up, dust ‘em off and put ‘em back. When we separated he was building shelves for more! Uncluttered is the way to go.
