Corporatism is not Capitalism, or "Why can't I find a decent job"?
Is it just me? | 11/2/11 | andy 58-in-nh

Many corporations today are merely extensions of government. They devote much of their time and capital not to innovation or maximizing shareholder value or to efficiency, but to serving government mandates. It's a relationship far less symbiotic than parasitic, but in time the hosts seem to get used to it...

Instead of finding and rewarding the best available talent - American companies hire the perfectly calibrated, Human Relations (does that name creep you out, too?) Department-approved number of Accredited Victims... ignoring experienced, older white males in favor of inexperienced non-white females. After all: white, traditional heterosexual men are surely guilty of oppression... or so our culture tells us, seemingly every minute of every day.

Instead of creating truly innovative products and services - they create ones bounded by the designs of bureaucrats who neither know nor care about the business they regulate - or about the needs of their customers, whose costs they inflate - while blaming it on the businesses over which they reign.

Instead of creating new enterprises based on new technologies to serve burgeoning needs - American businesses sit and twiddle their thumbs, sometimes waiting years for regulatory approval... until the opportunity is gone... and in many cases, a foreign company has acted to fill the void. But "others" deserve it more than Americans do because America is an Oppressor Nation - that's what they teach in school now, right?

How many millions of good, high-paying American jobs and opportunities have never been created because of our government's insane, anti-productive, pro-dependent policies? Can't quantify that? Well, don't worry! If you can't quantify it, it doesn't exist!

But what of our Congressmen, ever looking for payoffs and bribes because what the Hell else could people like that ever do with their worthless lives, anyway? Steal? Hell, no. They don't have the guts to steal like common criminals. That would risk getting their hands dirty, and manicures cost a bundle these days, even if they are supplied by illegal immigrants taking tips under the table.

And can you really blame them? We let them in here, from places with governments even more rotten than ours, and they just want to feed their families. And our government is all to happy to abuse them, too; promising opportunity and delivering dependency - paid for, of course by those horrible, nasty, awful people who happen to create all of the remaining jobs and opportunities left in this failing and withering nation... at least until the producers of this nation decide to stop and reconsider just what they are working for. And who is stealing it from them.

And what they are prepared to do about it.

Your inability to find a 'decent' job might have more to do with the anti-business politicians that run your state.

And how about some examples about what you are talking about?

Don’t misunderstand: I personally have a job, same company for a long time - it’s other folks I’m concerned with. My state is generally pro-business, but not as much as it might be.

The vanity post with "I" in the title made me think you didn't have job.

Glad to hear you're employed.

I've alway thought NH was a very liberal, anti-business state run by Democrats?

No. I have a job. Read the post. I am concerned about other people who lack employment because they are not "accredited victims" or because potential employers had no incentive to create their jobs in the first place.

In reality, New Hampshire is an anomaly in New England: a mostly Republican state with a very Republican legislature, 100% GOP congressmen (both of them) and one Republican senator. By this time next year, I expect we will also have a Republican governor.

Thanks.

You’re welcome. Believe me, if I didn’t live in NH, I’d gladly live in Texas - a truly great state with the friendliest and most loyal people I know (and I do know a few).
