I think I read that you can log in successfully remotely. Does that mean that you can access your email account via your ISPs webmail interface?

If you have not tried that, do so. If you CAN log in successfully then the fault falls squarely onto Outlook. If not, then your account is messed up on THEIR server.

As a further test, I would suggest downloading Mozilla Thunderbird email client, installing it and then using all the appropriate POP/SMTP mailserver settings along with your current username and password in the Thunderbird account setup.

If Thunderbird is able to access your account on the server then Outlook is hosed or hacked.

The workaround may be to take steps to backup/export all of your contacts and messages from Outlook (Google it) and then wipe it out and try a re-install of Outlook. Then import all and retry.

Another workaround would be to use your Windows System Restore to restore to a time before this mess started. Might work.

Good luck big guy!

I would do the error check on the disk just to be certain. If the problem starts after the computer warms up, it could indicate a hardware issue and not a software one.

This is what I meant by intermittent problems. Sometimes it worked well for hours and other times it sputtered and slowed to a crawl. I also thought it was software and did multiple restores, virus scans, etc. but it was a couple bad sectors on the hard drive. If you don’t do the error check and lock out the sectors, you can seriously fragment the files on that drive.

I did the error scan earlier today, it still does it but much less frequent, looks like I need to do some downloading of video files, defrag, and rescan

Auslogics Boostspeed is a good system repair utility. I think they have a 30 day trial version. It may not fix your specific problem, but it should help to assure that other issues with the registry, etc. are not contributing in some way.

I know you won't like this answer, but it is probably their server. I use outlook 2007 to retrieve email from 5 different accounts on three different servers. I sometimes will get the errors like you from one of the servers for two accounts. Then they will go away for no apparent reason. I have noticed that the outlook won't error if I pull/push right after I log in/out via the web mail client.
