Having been raised around grumpy old curmudgeons, there is something very American about older guys who speak their mind whether they are right or not. He made me smile on occasion which was enough to wish him to rest in peace.

There sure is. We usually call them at least one of our grandfathers and a few of our uncles. And sometimes we call them politicians.
