We felt it here in Reno. The one armed bandits started spilling silver dollars like crazy, and I grabbed me some before the security goons arrived and started filling their own pockets!

130.2 miles below the surface. I doubt many felt it at that depth. The Japan quake was only 18 miles below the surface.

I’m the same, one step from walking into the Bay like the guy in Alameda did a few months ago, and the unionized firemen and policemen stood by and watched him.

Hoping that these aren’t pre-shocks of something bigger in either Taiwan or Oklahoma....

My local news is reporting that the previous OK earthquake was felt all the way up here in Central Wisconsin.

Question for the experts: Can a person hear rumbling in the Earth, but not FEEL the vibrations? The reason I ask is that we all heard something in my neighborhood right around the same time as the quake in the early morning hours.

It sounded a little like thunder, but our skies were absolutely clear, and it was a strange enough sound that we and about 5 of our neighbors on our block ALL went outside to try to figure out what it was (odd given what time it was). With the report that some here in WI by us actually FELT vibrations I am now wondering if that might be what we all heard?

I’m no expert, but I have been through some big ones. The 9.2 in Alaska in 1964 we saw coming. The mountain peaks were shaking snow into the air and looked like dust storms. We didn’t know what it was at the time though. Then we heard a sound like someone was dragging a footlocker across the upstairs floor. THEN the floor started moving just like waves in the ocean. You could actually see the floor rising and falling. But, back to your question, yes we heard the quake just before it hit.

I hope this helps.
