The Director of the Harry Potter movies is getting ready to begin filming the Movie-version of Doctor Who! Take that Trekkies!
(Excerpt) Read more at youtube.com ...
1) What actor would play The Doctor? NOT Matt Smith!
2) Will they involve The Master (My vote is for Anthony Hopkins)? It would be great if they had Eccleston back as the ninth Doctor during the Time War, but the Master wasn’t really involved in it.
3) Will they finally explain why The Doctor left Gallifrey in the first place? Why did he run away from home and what has kept him running all these years and regenerations? What did he see in the Untempered Schism? Also, what is his real name? Was his mother really from Earth?
4) Who will portray his companion? (Mary Jane anyone?) The Doctor doesn’t use the TARDIS as a shaggin’ wagon so I am pretty sure smoking weed (Mary Jane) is out of bounds, too!
though... For me, after Tom Baker it was just never the same.
Have you seen the new series? It looks better than American shows. CGI is tailor-made for something like DW.
‘1) What actor would play The Doctor?’
Has to be David Tennant. Just has to be.
If they get:
David Tennant
a good budget
a good script
It could be very good.
Actually I think the special effects in the ‘new’ Dr Who are very good, occasionally superb.
Long Live BBCA... Doctor Who and Top Gear... that is all we need.
I talked to a guy who knows people in the Beeb who told him that Doctor Who would go until 2012 and then possibly be sold to an American interest. Looks like he was right!
The video indicates that they want a “reboot”. In other words, the creators are too damn lazy be consistent or research the material. It will be a disappointment.
I hear what you are saying about Baker but Eccleston and Tennant did a pretty good job much to my surprise. I was really hoping that one of them would bring back the Jelly Babies.
What happens when you drop a Jelly Baby into molten potassium chlorate? You get a Screaming Jelly Baby!

yah, Tennant was good. But I grew up on Tom Baker as the Doctor, and it was really traumatic when he left.
The BBC has already announced that they will be airing part of the next series next year and another part of it in 2013. The latter is the 50th anniversary of the series - they have said that there will be a big time celebratory productions so they certainly wouldn’t sell it off. At this point DW is an ingrown Sherlock Holmes for them.
Great. More creativity and new ideas out of Hollywood. /s
Must agree. The Hollywood Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy was lousy. The earlier made for Brit and US PBS miniseries was great though.
They should know by now this need to be presented a certain way.
Alec Baldwin as Dr. Who and Lindsey Lohan as his companion
Another “news article” I consider as a who gives a rat’s rear end.
