Word For The Day, Monday, 11/21/11
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
mingy; adj.
mean and stingy; niggardly.
Etymology: 1885–90; m(ean2 ) + ( st)ingy
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Here is my example with WFTD.

Yes it’s early, but i guess yinz’ll just have to man up and deal with it. Short work week this week, and i am not in the ofc today. Special thanks to Dr.Bogus Pachysandra for today’s word and the others he has been so helpfully providing to me.

Mingy sort of sounds like it should mean skeevy. You know, like our boy-toy, Anthony Weiner. He sure didn’t think his package was mingy, tho, did he?

It’s a bad sign when all the best material has already been used, and only after a half-dozen posts.
However, if we’re dealing with made-up words, in this season of bountiful harvests and national thanksgiving, I offer “squantum”; the amount of help a native offers you in adjusting to your new land.

Pretty sure the good doctor who suggested the word didn’t either. Dictionary.com doesn’t list that as a meaning. Feel free to have at it.
