"The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.' "

This Sunday's broadcast is a rerun from Thanksgiving. In the first hour, Ed hosts "Options for Thanksgiving," a program aired on NPR in 1978. The second hour features Phil Harris and Alice Faye, followed by Philco Radio Time with Bing Crosby. He tells the story of "a man without a country". The last part of the broadcast is the Elgin Watch Thanksgiving special from 1948.

Bummer on the rerun. I was looking forward to the regular lineup.
Free Republic is having “issues,” so we have to “refresh” the page when the error message pops up. It makes commenting trickier—not to do mulitple posts.

I was thinking about going to OTR and making my own BB.
Got any “Suspense” suggestions?

Happy Holidays, folks......
"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

We had a good one. Went to Texas Monday through Friday and saw lots of family. It was good to get home after a total of almost 24 hours' driving round-trip.
I hope your Thanksgiving was a good one!
This thread will surely pick up in a little while when everyone checks in. :-)

I think I've burned it off and then some - busy! And to cap it all off, we have a 7.5' pre-lit Douglas Fir with 600 bulbs and only one stinking string is coming on this year! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!

Vision, you may be right about the quiet thread. Besides being the Thanksgiving weekend, the error messages may be putting some people off if they don’t know to refresh or F5 key.

Greeting folks. Can hardly believe Ed's going to run that dog from the other night again. It's all just as well for me. I guess, cause I'm pretty tied up tonight with things I've got to get down.
See you next Sunday.
