This is the incredible moment a fearless warthog gave a new meaning to the term fast food - by dramatically cheating a cheetah who wanted it for dinner.
The warthog was minding its own business in the Tshukudu Private Game Reserve in South Africa, blissfully unaware that it was being stalked by a hungry predator.
The cheetah is the fastest-moving animal in the world and, when it sets its sights on something to eat, the usual outcome is not good for the prey.
But, combining a never-say-die survival instinct with stunning bravery, the warthog performed a quick U-turn and charged towards the baffled cheetah.
A warthog's thick skull and sharp tusks could do life-threatening damage, and the cheetah seemed well aware of the danger - bringing its charge to an abrupt halt and bolting in the opposite direction.
The spectacular shots were captured by wildlife photographer Stu Porter, 36, who couldn't believe his eyes as the extraordinary episode unfolded.

The cheetah will generally pull its’ prey down from behind and immediately go for the neck.

Hopefully, no democrats will immediately show up afterward.
.... or on. ;)
Saw one of the cats at the Wild Animal Park make a similar run, chasing a decoy. Incredible to see live, and hear the paws falling on the grass. The cheetah’s stride is 22 feet! They have videos of that on YouTube also.
The cat’s biggest buddy and security blanket was a big white dog. They’d been raised together. The dog gave the cheetah confidence to deal with new things, like a trash can that the cat found intimidating. Seeing the dog walk right by it gave the young cat the courage to do so as well.
I watched Crusader Rabbit on TV back in the '50s.

“They call me Mister Pig!”
A Cheetah is like a Thoroughbred ... very High Performance ... light boned and fragile and in the Cheetah world an Injury means Slow Death (they have to be able to Chase)

OK a better analogy would be a Corvette vs a Pick-up Truck in a Demolition Derby ... One is Fast and Petite the other Robust and Durable
(and both have Teeth and Jaws)
The Cheetah won because it left ... that Hog would have ate it.

Ah, crusader Rabbit and Rags the Tiger ... source of my all time favorite trivia question:
Rags's full name was Ragland T. Tiger ... what did the "T" stand for?
Answer = "Larry, his parents didn't know how to spell."
Damn, I'm old ...
They also have a rather small head and less than crushing jaw action, at least compared to a tiger or lion.
