I have a Kindle now. I’m waiting for the Nook E to come out.

Got the Kindle Fire for my youngest son for Christmas. There was an earlier thread on the Fire that was nothing but HUGELY positive. It reinforced my decision. :) I looked at the color Nook for quite some time, but opted for the Fire for various reasons, not the least of which is price.

Barnes & Noble is in severe financial trouble and might collapse at any time, Amazon is one of the strongest companies in the world. I don't know anything about cross-compatibility between the two, but it could become an issue down the line if B&N doesn't make it.

I've heard some bad stuff about the kindle fire...That the setup is awkward and uncustomizable, and that the web browsing is slow, and it doesn't work well as a reader, that its glitchy...Just hearsay though.

Take it with a grain of salt.

I honestly can’t think of many reasons to go with a Kindle Fire, and that’s coming from a certified Amazon fan. The Nook tablet’s specs are superior, its screen is more responsive and less reflective, and it’s got an SD card slot so you can load up extra content.

Even if you’re a Prime subscriber, you can still watch streaming videos on the Nook tablet. All you have to do is visit Amazon.com and access the video like you would on a computer.

I don’t have a Tablet, so I can’t say on that.

I do have an older Kindle and I LOVE it! I still buy some hardcover books that I want to keep. The Kindle is awesome for books that I want to read pronto and not have the clutter around. Plus, there are many freebies for dwnload! The battery last forever, too.

The mister also got me the Kindle cover thing with a slide-light built in. I can curl up in bed and not bother him with lights now (it also makes it more convenient to hold). I don’t know if the Fire needs a lighted cover but for the older ones it is a must, in my opinion.

I don’t know which is the better value but I absolutely love my old Kindle!

My Kindle is awesome.

I DL’d the Kindle App to my IPAD.

IPAD knows what page I am on when I invoke that Program. It does not work the other way around but Kindle is still very cool.

(I can use IPAD to read my Kindle books but I have to fast forward on the actual Kindle if I want to get to the pages that I was on via the IPAD.)

There are Orwellian issues to be concerned about but likely that will be more of a problem for posterity than for me.

Amazon did undownload (take back) the 1984 book a while back I read. That is scary stuff indeed but mostly my Kindle is quite super.

we are looking at the Fire to upgrade our daughters older Kindle....I looked at all of them and none of the newer ones seem to come 3G.
I do know that when the screen on her old Kindle went bad, we called the 800 number and there was no hassle with the warranty, the replacement was sent the NEXT DAY...they have great customer service IMHO
