Last week, Gov. Deval Patricks office sent one email containing two very different invitations. One is for the explicitly religious and religion-specific Annual Lighting of the Chanukah Menorah on Dec. 20th.
The other is for tonights completely non-religious and utterly p.c. Holiday Tree Lighting.
If its OK to have a Chanukah Menorah, then surely its OK to have a Christmas Tree, right? Conversely, if Gov. Patricks p.c. paranoia prohibits admitting what the tree really is, shouldnt the glowing Jewish symbol next to the Holiday Tree be a Winter Candle, or a Solstice Candelabra?
In a rational, reasonable Massachusetts, the state house would be warmed by the glow of both a Christmas Tree and a Chanukah Menorah and wed all be enjoying the holidays. In the Massachusetts of no-fun Lefties, wed have a Holiday Bush and a Good Will Candleholder brightening Nurses Hall.
But this? How does this make sense to anyone?

Political Correctness and another attack on Christians.
Merry Christmas Deval Patrick. You can shove your happy holiday.
I'm unaware of any specific religious significance to the lighting of a Christmas tree, and I've been a part of a few, and no prayer was offered.
The fact is simple. It's a coordinated attack on Christianity in the public space.

Merry Christmas Is NOT Offensive (Rabbi Daniel Lapin Urges Respect For Christian Holiday Alert)
I have noticed this too. Go into the lobby of any office building or department store. You see a generic holiday tree and a Menorah. And ironically the Menorah is there to make the now non-descript Christmas decorations less offensive. Everything is geared toward lessening the religious meaning of Christmas. Thus, no one thinks anything of adding non-Christian religious symbols to the holiday display.
I really hope the end result is that Christmas commercialism is killed. I personally hate it. I hope they make the “holiday” so generic that no one rushes out like a Pavlov dog to buy useless crap anymore.
What holiday?
He is a Democrat!
Therefore, he is a liar and a hypocrit.
And, he, and the rest of his ilk are okay with that.
I hope the Dems Political Correct policy will be followed through on all religions, not just one.
So any mention of Kwanzaa will be regulated and articulated as Neo-African festival or something similarly innocuous.
What if someone got offended at the notion of “Martin Luther King Jr. Day”? “Join us for our Civil Rights Day celebration”.
“But why aren’t you saying Dr. King’s name?”
“Someone got offended...”
If they can take the Christmas out...
...and annoy your liberal friends by pointing out that MLK Jr was a REPUBLICAN
