Word For The Day, Thursday, December 15, 2011 - mundify
dictionaries ad nauseam | 15 December 2011 | Thursday's sub

Posted on 12/15/2011 4:42:31 AM PST by secret garden

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

mundify \MUHN-duh-fahy\, verb
To purge or purify.

Example sentences:
The cleric, fatigued and mumpish, scolded her, saying that a woman of her burdensome years should return home and mundify her morphewed sins.
-- Edward Dahlberg, The Olive of Minerva: Or, The Comedy of a Cuckold

Vigorous efforts to mundify old nasty habits should find priority as a substruction on which the edifice of the efforts of humanising the police should be built.
-- Praveen Kumar, Indian Police

Etymology:
Mundify is built from two Latin roots, mundi-, "to clean," and ficare, "to do."

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

We enjoyed the debut of 24/7 Flyers Rangers last night. Laviolette and torts trying to give Bruce a run for his $ on the F bomb front. But the star is def going to be goalie Bryz! He’s hilarious!

I saw one of our goalies last night at Target and said hi. He’s hard to miss at 6 foot six. Very sweet boy with a great smile, thanks to the mask.

I don’t think the establishment has done us any favors with their selections in the last few elections. They are so afraid of the Goldwater effect. A+ for you.

Many around here have been pointing out that Romney’s canard about not being a career politician, is only because he lost to Ted Kennedy in 1996, for months, before Gingrich actually had the wherewithal to say it.

My Prediction, next up....

‘The Republican establishment media would have you believe that the best available candidate, is the guy that lost to the guy that lost to Obama’

I’d be willing to risk a Goldwater style defeat if we had an actual Goldwater type candidate. If there is one in this field, Newt isn’t it. Maybe Perry or Bachmann or even Paul.
