That would be freaky.

Go into a basement and turn around and there is a bear behind you on his hind legs.

the repairman was working Wednesday in Frank Annacone's Hopatcong basement when he heard a growl behind him ... "bring out the gimp".

The bear was looking for a place to hibernate for the winter. Good thing it wasn’t shot.

“a repairman working in a basement was shocked when he turned around to discover a 500-pound black bear behind him.”...

That’s what you get when you pick up the soap!

While New Jersey is not converting back into wilderness, I did notice while visiting there that since there are so many restrictions on the humans the animals seem to be everywhere. The urban edge actually seems to be a boon to wildlife across the country, hunting is reduced or eliminated, what open land there is becomes stabilized as parks, estates or golf courses, parks, farming declines. The reality of the environment is sometimes different then what the environmentalists believe is happening.

So, they all don’t go in the woods after all.

Thanks for the photo. When I read about “Stumbling around the neighborhood” in New Jersey, I thought it might be my Uncle Andy. He’s been tranquilized several times.

Annacone said he does not know how the bear got into his basement or how long it had been there, as he had not been down to the basement in a while.

...just when you thought spiders in the basement were a problem .

Last night I shot an elephant in my Pajamas and how he got in my pajamas I'll never know.

Like I said in the earlier thread, usually repairmen only have to worry about being molested by cougars...

I heard they reinstated bear hunting in New Jersey.

Except in Jersey they have a different way of hunting bears.

First, they stuff the bear into the trunk of a car.

Then they shoot it.

Then they bury it at a construction site.
