Shopping in Barrow.

Looks like prices are about triple what you would pay in the lower 48.

I remember when Will Rogers and Wiley Post died in ‘35. It was a sad day in Oklahoma.

I was in -15 once in St Paul and once in Hartford. It feels actually life threatening. I can’t imagine -55

I’ve been working in Prudoe Bay when it was -46ºf with a 55 mph sustained wind. IIRC, wind chill was somewhere around -100...

When it has been -20º and -30º then goes to -10º it really does feel warmer.

Yes it is a heat wave...weird weather...I’m in central BC and it was just barely freezing this morning with light snow...warmed up later in morning to 33 and mixed rain and snow. I don’t like it!!

So, on that day, my brother-in-law will very likely be up before sunrise.

Barely.

And only on that day.

I remember back in the 40’s (1940’s) my dad would put a blanket over the engine when it got really cold...(Michigan)

Blessedly warm here in Buffalo, NY so far too. No snow on the ground and it looks like it will be a green Christmas this year too if the forecast is correct. Been in the 40's mostly during the day, up to near 60 a couple of days last week. I love Global Warming☺

I’m looking at a map and wondering what body of water that is out there. There is Chukchi Sea, the Beaufort Sea, East Siberian Sea and the Arctic Ocean. I am confused.

Water lines are protected by burying them 4 foot deep, insulating them and putting a heat tape cord in the pipe or between the pipe and the insulation to inject around 5 watts a foot. Other wise your sewer freezes in the dead of winter.

I cannot for the life of me understand why people would voluntarily reside in such places.
