Ever get the feeling that the open-minded voters for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are welcoming to every genre, subgenre and hybrid of popular and vernacular music except rock?

But the rock and roll hall of fame?
She deserves to be recognized, but in some more appropriate venue. Or else change to a name that more accurately reflects whatever this organize actually represents.
Cosimo Matassa helped to create the New Orleans sound of the 1950s, made famous by Larry Williams, Little Richard, Lloyd Price and others, and Tom Dowd was a factor in turning Atlantic Records into a hitmaker at the same time.
In late 1966, Laura Nyro's Wedding Bell Blues was a hit in Southern California but a miss north of the Tejon Pass and east of the Cajon Pass. The rest of the country knows the Fifth Dimension's 1969 version, which isn't as good.
The Small Faces charted with their highly acidic Itchicoo Park in early 1968--at the time, I was surprised that disc jockeys were allowed to play it. And Freddy King scored with his instrumental rocker Hide Away in 1961.
I was pleased to see Laura Nyro inducted, she wrote many excellent Top 40 songs and is underappreciated, also nice to see Donovan and the Faces make it.
I don’t worry myself over these things, some good, some undeserving choices ever year.
The Faces did well with “Stay With Me’, when Rod Stewart did lead.
I’m a huge SEARCHERS fan, and I have thought for years that they should be inducted, if only for their influence on other bands. No luck. Seems to me selctions are based on either record sales, or some liberal feel good BS about the group or individual.
I’d rather they leave Tull out for ever. I love that band and if the Hall couldnt nominate them after Tull’s 25th year then to heck with the Hall.
Journey isn’t even in there~
Did Question Mark & the Mysterians make it in yet? Surely justice is mocked were they denied yet another time!
Last year on our way to Calumet to go snowmobiling, the wife and I visited the R & R hall of fame.
Best and most interesting thing I saw there was a 300 foot ship frozen in the harbour area of Lake Erie right in front of the Halls building.
And ZZ Tops Red roadster.
Agreed. No bon jovi. They are fakes.
Well, the author notes Rush not being in as the most obvious travesty.
The suggestion that Guns N’ Roses doesn’t belong, and that Def Leppard should be in before them, however, is silly.
