4 Pit Bulls Maul Seattle Intruder

SEATTLE --- Whether he accidentally climbed over the wrong ten-foot fence or was intending to burglarize the residence, a prowler in Seattle learned too late to the benefits of planning ahead. On December 13, the unidentified 2l-year-old man climbed over a ten-foot fence at a home in Seattle at about 9:00 p.m. and dropped into a yard containing four pit bulls, according to the Seattle Times.

The dogs attacked and mauled the intruder so badly that he could not walk, so the owner loaded him onto a pallet and used a hand truck to wheel him to the street, where he flagged down a passing vehicle and asked the driver to call 911.

The dog owner told police he heard the commotion and called the pit bulls off and placed them in their kennel.

An earlier KIRO-TV report stated that a neighbor said the man had his pants down when he climbed the fence, but that was not confirmed by authorities. The attack occurred in a neighborhood behind a Jack-In-The-Box on South Director Street and Rainier Avenue, police said.

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center with multiple puncture wounds and extensive injuries to his head, arm, neck and ear, according to a Seattle Fire Department official, but his injuries were not life-threatening.

The pit bulls were allowed to stay with the owner, who provided licensing and veterinary records.

Seattle Animal Control will investigate the incident and determine whether the dogs have any previous history of biting and that rabies shots are all current, the Times reports.

Sgt. Sean Whitcomb of the Seattle Police Department said, “The person had no business being there and this was their dog run, so to speak,” Whitcomb said. “The dogs were blameless, they were merely protecting their area. We’re going to be requesting charges of criminal trespass on this person. It’s a misdemeanor level offense.”

Because the control freaks of most city governments would much prefer you not have any pets. And many local ordinaces that are unconstitutional are never challenged.

I hope the dogs’ owner did something to get the bad taste out of the dogs’ mouths.

Well, at least there is still one sane LEO in Seattle. Although it may be a "misdemeanor level offense", the dogs regarded it as a felony. ;o)

Personally, I would’ve preferred a repetitious mauling with some hot lead, but that’s just me. All in all, still a good ending.

I usually give mine peanut butter after such incidents. Comfort food for dogs.

Well, when one breaks down the etiology of the word “misdemeanor” into pit bull speak, it goes as such:

“mis” = to miss or remove

“de” = of

“meanor” = testicular or crotch area

How does someone “accidentally” climb over a 10 foot fence?

Does gravity work differently in Seattle? A person can be just walking along, then they trip (presumably because their pants are hanging halfway to the ground), their face hits the pavement and suddenly they bounce over the nearest 10 foot fence?

I just returned from a family funeral in the Deetroit area. While visiting a childhood friend who still lives in the city I noticed that the liquor store across from his house has installed a 10 ft. high chain link fence topped with razor wire around the ROOF of the building.

Burglars typically enter buildings through the roof openings. Not this store. Unreal.

Sad. What has happened to Detroit. When you see the Chrysler commercials, they try to make it appear nothing has changed, and it is on the way back.

It isn’t coming back in my lifetime.

Most cities and many counties have public health ordinances that after ANY dog bit, even if the dog bites the owner by accident, the dog’s rabies status is checked.

I understand checking the rabies status when a dog accidentally bites its owner, but in a case like this one, can’t we just wait and let it be a surprise?

It would be nice, but humans can transmit rabies as well - and a bite isn’t necessary. Just transmission by saliva is necessary.

Okay. Then how about we do an autopsy on the guy who got bit, before he has an opportunity to spread rabies. Just in case.
