Well, he could do worse. Portman has seemed decent so far as a Senator.

The BIG question though - would his replacement be appointed by Kasich?

I am sure it will be Rubio so we will be forced into a third party since neither major ticket will be eligible.

Yes. If Portman is sworn in as VP in January 2013 then Governor Kasich would appoint a replacement who would then be up for reelection in 2014 to fill the rest of the term to be completed in 2016.

His replacement pick would likely be Mary Taylor, his Lt. Governor as she helped drag the ticket to victory in 2010. She would quickly become very popular among conservatives, men especially. Think Sarah Palin with a CPA.

If for some reason she was not the appointee then other possibilities would be Jon Husted or Josh Mandel, if he doesn't win in the fall.

If we actually get stuck with O’Romney, we’d probably be better off with Natalie Portman as his running mate...

Not a chance. That ticket would be too ¨white bread.¨ Now you might not like the observation but that is the political reality. Anyway, I think we all know who the OBVIOUS choice for VP will be.

Yeah, a Politico writer is just trying to ¨help¨ the Repùblicans with his suggestion. More like he is trying to undermine them so take any such suggestion with a huge grain of salt.

Portman is my senator and he is a good one - but he is not VP material - he is the quiet brainy type.

VPs need to be a bulldog - like Cheney - the best VP ever.

And seriously didn’t morning joe go for Huntsman - they always go for milktoast conservatives.
