Gene Burns is one of the Bay Area talkers ousted by Cumulus at KGO (810), and he was supposed to start this week at Clear Channel's revamped talk KKSF (910). Instead, 415 Media Exclusive's Rich Lieberman has a report from KGO's Pat Thurston, to the effect that Burns had a stroke and is recovering. In his place at KKSF this week will be a rotating cast of other former KGO personalities: Bill Wattenburg (today), Gil Gross, John Rothmann and Rosie Allen. Burns' regular shift is 4-7pm Pacific time.

UPDATE: It was not a stroke after all, but he does have an undisclosed medical condition. The blogger, Rich Lieberman,
has apologized to Burns.

>>Burns, who has been in fragile health on and off the past year, has a medical condition, (which isn’t known, but according to one of his assistants, nothing as serious as a stroke). Furthermore, Burns is expected back next week to debut his show on “NewsTalk”, 910 AM from 4-7 PM

On FM, maybe; KKSF is the new call sign for this AM station,
but there is a KKSF-FM 103.7, which just changed its call letters to something else... it is now KOSF

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KKSF
RE-DIRECT:
>>KOSF, known as “103.7 FM”, is a classic hits radio station in San Francisco, California. The station is owned and operated by Clear Channel Communications...On May 18, 2009, at 3 p.m., KKSF began a classic rock format. Owner Clear Channel cited economic considerations and the results of “exhaustive market research” as they announced the change to “103.7 The Band.” The first song played under the Classic Rock format was “Everybody’s Everything” by Santana. The demise of Smooth Jazz on KKSF also ended one of the Bay Area’s most spirited radio rivalries, as KKSF battled it out with Urban AC KBLX

My favorite Radio host and political mentor was David Brudnoy, the best person to impart libertarian, small government ideals I have ever listened too. Next to him is Jay Severen, who got bounced for telling the truth on his show, Boston is not a pleasant place for Libertarians who speak plainly.
Love Rush but lately he's become tedious, Beck is good and my current favorite but he might as well endorse Santorum, instead of pretending he not endorsing anyone.

Gene Burns passed away yesterday.

Gene was one of the first Talk Radio hosts I ever listened to (in Mass., he and Jerry Williams on WRKO). I'd try daily to get out for lunchtime and listen to him in the car. Vacation days found me listening to his show beginning to end.

Bye Gene. Thanks for waking me up!
