When a primary candidate suffers a substantial defeat and states that he will “reassess” his campaign while suspending his travel to the next state in the campaign, it generally means that the candidate has decided to withdraw.

I never thought he was a Romney supporter but I guess he is. The only reason he is staying in would be to continue to slit the conservative vote and allow Mitt to continue getting 25 percent. Dumb move. He would have suspended his campaign and do good work in Texas. Maybe run for Senate someday to get some experience there.

Time for your nap. Perry is not a quitter. That’s why he is staying in. He will take the south and likely the rest of the country too.

I tend to agree. I’m concerned, although it doesn’t really matter, that Perry and Bachman are going to endorse Santorum.

If you look at this field, ie Romney, Santorum, Paul and Gingrich, in my opinion Newt will appear heads above the others in a debate forum. It’s only a matter of time until it will whittle down to Romney and Newt, and people can then judge for themselves.

At that point you will have just about everyone backing Romney. In my opinion that will make Newt even more appealing to a broad base of voters.

I don’t see any of the other candidates having the ability to speak to a wide range of forum. For example, do you see Romney or Santorum going before the NAACP and saying anything of substance? Newt can go before them, and tell it like it is. True, it might be a waste of time, but you have to give the man his due for having the ability to speak with conviction on where he stands.

Newt can speak to poor people in Detroit, Latinos in LA etc. He knows their problems and clearly understands how gov’t has made their communities and lives worse.

I’ve chosen Newt. I decided 6 weeks ago with no remorse.

Let the games begin!!!!

Hopefully he spends January going after Mitt and exposing him and his weaknesses....this reminds me so much of the media pushing McCain down our throats and then as soon as he was nominated...boom...they attack with months of prepared articles and attack angles, from age, to computer phobia etc etc.
The more we expose Mitt for the (R) fraud he is the sooner the masses stop supporting him in these stupid nationwide push polls.

The Four contests this month will probably decide who we are stuck with...
January 3, 2012 Iowa (caucus) – Results
January 10, 2012 New Hampshire (primary)
January 21, 2012 South Carolina (primary)
January 31, 2012 Florida (primary)

He spent the most money and came in dead last before Bachmann. You can take your nap and stuff it. You are so ignorant it just stuns me. I guess America will continue to have the jokester running. He wants Romney as the nominee. Maybe he is hoping for the Romney VP spot. He is so self indulgent. A sick guy but so are his supporters. So desperate. Sad!!!!

I am guessing Mitt must have talked to him. I wonder if his super pac will be trashing Romney on TV in SC. I betting not.

I am certain Gov. Perry did not use the word “reassess”. He said he was going to pray on it and see if there is a way forward, best I can recall.

The Media has not been able to comprehend the notion of praying about a big decision. I also suspect Perry wanted to give his donors and family the courtesy of providing input before he announced his plans.

The extent to which his statement has been misconstrued is stunning...

I am thrilled he’s still in. I don’t understand why some people absolutely hate Perry. On Fox they were literally salivating at the thought Perry would drop. On FR, several never miss the opportunity to say hateful negative things about him.

What am I missing?

Just an FYI, but that’s not it. Not even Gingrich is as opposed to Romney as Perry. Mitt is going to continue to get his 25% no matter what. As far as the Senate idea, at his age and considering the realities of Texas politics, Senate is just not even on the radar screen for Perry. I doubt he would want to go to Washington for anything but the presidency.

He is disgusting. He definitely wants Romney as our nominee. Texas has kids shooting each other and he is goofing off running around the country not doing his job. He is getting paid as Governor and hasn’t worked a day in months. It is disgusting.
