Well, something has got to give.
Response: I like this statement.
Seems almost anything that suggests change for the entrenched politicians is not to be tolerated by them
With the rise of Ron Paul, quoting anti-American leftists is now in vogue on FR?
Regardless of source, if there is some wisdom or truth or humor or value in a quote, you should not feel threatened or compelled to tattle to moderators because a source doesnt meet muster with you.
I like the quote.
The day FReeRepublic censors anything (not otherwise vulgar or offensive) based solely on ideology is the day FReeRepublic ceases to be a truly open forum.
If you are threatened hearing words from others not politically aligned with your thoughts, turn your eyes away
This is old. I believe it came from Mark Twain. Or Mencken.
sage advice from someone who shoulda been hanged years ago
sweet
Sniff...
I still go through the motions of voting. Just in case the fix is not in.
Could be they (establishment) is acting like Romney is inevidable becuase they know they have a 25% block of the votes.
They too, like the likes are a large portion of the media. That is why you hear Fox News practically fall over themselves to praise Romney ( yet another progressive Pub)
and act like all other candidates do not have a chance?
Edit:
They too, like the libs are a large portion of the media.
While the right leaning media is more moderate to conservative than conservative and definitely not ultraconservative.
None the less they have a lot of influence for good or bad.
Fed.gov doesn't count votes, local governments and election boards do. Different things entirely.
I had never heard it before. It does reflect a truth.
I thought that was a Jello Biafra quote...
If you have not realized yet that we here of FR and the Tea Party movement have more in common with the OWS crowd than any member of the government - corporate oligarchy of elites that is running the show, I invite you to wake up. The OWS and Tea Party are protesting against the same thing. The closest analogy is the blind men and the elephant. The Tea Partiers perceive a government that serves special interests and the OWS perceives special interests that short circuit government functioning for the benfit of the people. Both are correct in their perception, but both miss protesting against the entire corrupt structure and so continue believing that they are “political opponents”.
Politics has become cliche, passe, and utterly irrelevant to the power structure that this system has devolved into. Instead of participatory government, we are treated endless sequels of a tired script, replaying the same predictable plotline. 21st century politics in the USA is nothing more than bad theater.
The original quote, while from a nominal “political enemy” hits an uncomfortable nugget of truth.
Give Obama another four years, and voting will be unnecessary.
Philip Berrigan, of the notorious Berrigan brothers, noted lefties onf the sixties. One was a priest.
It’s unfortunate that more FReepers don’t know about Daniel & Phillip Berrigan, two leftie troublemakers of the late sixties early seventies (at least until the draft ended). Among other plottings they wanted to kidnap Henry Kissinger and bomb the Pentagon. The Berrigans openly cheered for North Vietnamese victory in 1972 and regarded Jane Fonda as a lightweight.
FWIW, I was in RVN in 1972 and the only conservative source of news at that time was Bill Buckley’s National Review. It identified the Berrigans as the wicked traitors they were and not just “misguided idealists’ as the NYT had it.
Berrigan is to the left of Bill Ayres and Van Jones, IMO.
