For curiosity sake, do you belong to a church? If so, which one?
What I do is not weird new age stuff. It’s old age Bible stuff. I’m a scientist and it took me a lot of years to reconcile my experiences with logical scientific understanding. In fact I entered the neuroscience field in order to understand how my own experiences were possible.
Right now I’m involved in a research project at a major medical school which I expect will be published in a journal later this year. It’s been approved by the university IRB and is fast tracked for completion. Preliminary results were excellent.
I am primarily my own person and my worship is daily with God in meditation & prayer. I read the Bible most days. However, I do belong to and am actively involved with a congregation affiliated with a Divinity School. I was raised Lutheran, fell away from church, but a near death experience in 1988 brought me back on a searching path. My own experiences were really freaking me out.
I’m a Bible believing Christian. But also more than that as for me, it’s experiential, not just theoretical.
I often present to metaphysical groups and warn them about the dangers associated with channeling and trance states. They open their doors to me as I can explain exactly how they do what they do and demonstrate the dangers.
I’ve been a consultant for several major denominations and independent church groups thus I have a very diverse exposure. Some mainstream, some messianic, some horse & buggy fundamentalist, some I would consider cults. One of my research areas is cult programming, mind control techniques and deprogramming in order to warn people how the false religion process and experience works.
For many years now I have been studying the spiritual enlightenment process or awakening in all religions and researching mystics and mystical experiences. They are very similar experiences no matter the religion. All my studies have served to reinforce my belief in the Bible as very accurate and being a Divine inspiration.
