Personally, I think Tim can develop into an excellent second-tier QB at the level of a Rivers, Big Ben, or Doug Flutie.
You state that the bottom line is winning, and then put big Ben in as a second tier QB even though he has been to three and won two Super Bowls.
Rivers is second tier and Doug Flutie was an also ran in the pros.
Flutie threw a Hail Mary pass in college that won a game and lived off that for years as a backup and some times plug in starter for a couple of pro teams.
Flutie was described as hard working and gritty, meaning he had little talent, but he did bust his butt.
Rivers is a good looking family man {6 kids} good QB and continues to choke in the clutch.
With the exception of this year, Rivers hasn’t been a choker. The Chargers have a matador defense and Rivers always answered the bell when called. The defense and Nate Kaeding are the choke artists on the Chargers.
As for Flutie, at least on the Chargers, he did manage to bring the Chargers - a crappy team, with an even crappier quarterback (Ryan Leaf) a few wins after a 1 -15 season. He also filled in when Drew Brees couldn’t get it done early in his career. He was a QB with not great skills who is true leader and got the best out of the team around him.
Have to disagree with you on Rivers. He has been clutch his entire career. The kicker (kaeding) the o line, the defense well that is another story. This season he did look sporadic but going through 11 different starters on your o line will do that to you.
