After getting 5-20 Inches of snow in various places in the Puget Sound region, there is an ice storm warning in effect now.
No Kiddin!! I was just out on my porch and everything has 1/2 inch ice or more coated on it. The sound of tree limbs breaking an falling was coming from all directions!
CAUTION!! If you don't have to go out, then DON'T!!!
“After getting 5-20 Inches of snow in various places in the Puget Sound region”
I am 60 miles west of Olympia (South Sound) and only 4 miles from the ocean and still have 6 to 8 inches on the ground.
It sounds like a good day to stay home!
I’m in Portland, OR for the week and it’s only raining here.
Be prepared for power outages as the ice takes out power lines the same way it does tree limbs.
It is BAD. Here in Renton, we have a quarter inch of solid ice covering everything, with over a have inch of frozen rain expected over the next several hours. Looks pretty with all that snow covered with shiny ice, but it is deadly to go on on it. We have been hearing large tree limbs snap and fall all night, with a neighbors car hit by one. That is only going to get worse. Going to hunker down and stay home like everyone else today.
I fear a bad day over at SEATAC.
My juicw was out from about 11:30 till 2 this morning, so I’m prepped for that, my propane heater is already set up. I just hope it stays on till my pot of coffee gets done!
I get worried about the weight on my roof...
Current temperature: 28° - Light Freezing Rain. Power went out about an hour ago. Glad I have plenty of neo-Global Warming (firewood) ;-)
I went out yesterday and shook every branch I could reach. By 4:00 they were already starting to ice up. I had 8 inches I had to get off the roof of my greenhouse because that was the load limit - without ice. I haven’t lost anything....yet.
Man, I feel for ya. We’ve been through enough of those in Portland. We got SO lucky...snow turned to rain and it’s in the 40s here.
I hate the ice...just impossible to deal with.
Man, we had an ice storm in seattle about 15 years ago and there are plenty of trees that still bear serious scars from that one.
We had one here in Kentucky a couple years ago and, when the leaves are gone, most of the trees are pretty ugly.
Here in Minneapolis-St Paul, we’re used to the occasional ice storm or real bad snowfall. But the picture you posted looks absolutely hellacious.
Something that bad would have absolutely stopped everything around here.
It’s times like these when those preparations pay off!
I feel for all of you folks. We were out for 5 days end of Oct. here in NH.
Are you on municipal water ?
I have a well, and being out of water makes it even worse.
I finally broke down and bought a generator after the last storm.
-Global Warming
-Bush’s fault
Better raise taxes.
Went through something similar in December of 2008 here in MA. Was out of power for 8 days. If you don’t have a generator GET ONE NOW.
Yeah, I heard the EBS announce it on KOMO, and decided I will not be going to work
I’m in North Central Florida. It is sunny and clear, will get up to almost 70 today.
I don’t know how anyone can live in Seattle. Great town / horrible weather. Rain, rain, rain, and more rain.
