(The "500 year test" is one that I use to measure importance: if a reasonable number of educated people from around the globe are aware of something more than 500 years old, it is important. The "millennial test", of course, gives even more significance to things older than 1000 years. I feel sure that the works of the composers J.S. Bach and Antonio Vivaldi will pass my millennial test, and undoubtedly others such as Telemann are very likely to also.)
