Hi, long time no see. I have no idea. They run entertainment on shortwave?

Hello, Friends! Keith suggested I ask you this. Since earlier this month, we have been trying to figure out the name/composer of a classic jazz-swing song, and since SteelYourFaith mentioned seeing “The Artist,” and I watched the preview of it, I found that very song is featured in the preview.

It is the opening song of the preview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixqr8D7J_Kc&feature=fvst

And, it is also featured in this swell video of a “flash mob” of young dancers at Denver Int’l, at about the 3-minute mark: http://www.flixxy.com/denver-airport-holiday-flash-mob.htm

It is a very famous song, and any of you might know the name of it.

There it is! I should have known that. We have a pretty decent collection of the classic American standards which includes several of the big bands, but I guess we overlooked Benny Goodman.

Thanks, Vision and SteelYourFaith. Lord willing, we’ll see you all on Sunday evening!

From Wicked-pedia:

“Sing, Sing, Sing (With a Swing)” is a 1936 song, written by Louis Prima and first recorded by him with the New Orleans Gang and released in March 1936 as a 78 as Brunswick 7628 (with “It’s Been So Long” as the B side). It is strongly identified with the big band and swing eras. It was covered by Fletcher Henderson and most famously Benny Goodman. Originally entitled “Sing Bing Sing”, in reference to Bing Crosby, it was soon retitled for use in wider contexts. The song has since been covered by numerous artists. The original version of the song by Louis Prima includes lyrics but due [to] the better known Benny Goodman version being an instrumental many assume the song was written as such.”
