character is obviously not as big an issue with the electorate in general

except the republican electorate is the one we have to hope will overlook character and i don't think that can be counted on. Dems overlook character but won't overlook it to vote for a republican billing himself as a conservative.

Then we rally around Romney and try to give him a backbone. A Newt general election (win or loss) would give a lot more clarity to the electorate’s view on issues (or sense of reality).

The self described independents comprise 2 groups.

Self loathing liberals. Mitt has a shot with them..but no much due to melanin.

Real independents, who don’t have the wherewithal to decide what their first principles are. They’ll go with the guy that doesn’t look like a moron. (or the least moronic...still Newt in a walk, carrying baggage)

They gave one a chance already, Newt wins them in a GE.
