INDIANAPOLIS -- A former school superintendent under fire for his $1 million retirement payout is claiming Wayne Township Schools owe him even more money.
In a counterclaim filed by his attorneys Wednesday, Terry Thompson said the district breached his 2007 employment contract by prematurely ending his superintendent emeritus consulting job on Jan. 31, 2011, once Call 6 Investigator Kara Kenney broke the news of the payout.
Thompson claims the district still owes him for unpaid salary, post-retirement contributions, deferred compensation and severance pay, but the claim does not give an exact dollar figure.

My wife taught in that district for many years, although we did not live in it.
Terry pulled off a great deal for himself.
Several of those board members were so senile I’m surprised they could even find their way to the meetings.
Some pigs are more equal than others.....
Compared to other rackets, being a school superintendent is a big one. Some of these fools make $200,000-$400,000 per year with benefits and perks, often have platinum retirement packages. Often they “retire” from one jurisdiction and end up in another distant one drawing another salary, etc. Even when they are failures at their profession, they are given very large “buyouts”....often just to shut up and go away. Many know each other so they shuffle from one unsuspecting, uncritical school district to another. Often they have no shame and little integrity. What a racket! Yeah...for the children.
