I’m not Tina Fey, but I can see the Bryon nuclear plant from my house (well, the plume anyhow) and my heart is never troubled by it.
I’ve operated nuc plants (in the navy) and designed them at Stone and Webster.
Years ago I worked with a millwright on a refueling outage at a nearby nuclear plant. During our two week training before beginning work, they warned us that there were about 2400 different things which could trigger an automatic shutdown and the resultant steam dump. Most were very minor.
However, they said that the steam dump would sound like a 747 landing right on top of you.
Like a misplaced jumper in a motor control center circuit in system that supposedly had nothing to do with reactor systems.
Emergency shutdowns can be unstable, just ask the operators at TMI.
That is a correct statement. It is a product of secondary cosmic rays, involving a high-energy neutron interacting with atmospheric nitrogen. Because of the very low emission energy of the beta particle, the radiation hazard associated with tritium, including internal exposures, is very minor. It has a relatively short biological half-life, about 10 days for a person with average fluid intake. It can be reduced to as low as 2-3 days by the relatively simple expedient of increasing fluid intake.

different reactor, different decade, definitely different staff, and different cause for the shutdown...

The blog is offered in both Japanese and English and has become the hub of information sharing. The blogger posts text in Japanese and provides the translation in English directly below it so anyone doubting the veracity of the translation can question it. For this reason, it’s one of two blogs read regularly by Arnie Gunderson. He mentioned it in an interview and after that, trolls started showing up in droves. He provides first person accounts, subtitles videos, explains cultural implications of Japan’s government decisions etc. as well as providing translations of information posted on citizens websites in Japan. He’s been quite successful at blowing the lid of information containment - that’s why pro-nuke pimps criticize it vaguely in schoolyard terms.
Hope the mods note that I attributed both in the tag line of the article and that the blogger properly attributes. But - you may be in luck - by wasting their time you may catch them busy!

I have noticed how the nuke industry demands absolute silence from the public and labels any discussion or posting of information of any kind as ‘panic’.
Tritium is pretty damn safe.
I can’t think of a single way it could kill you, or even make you ill. The beta emitted won’t even penetrate the layer of dead skin on your body. You’d have to deliberately inhale the pure gas, and that could kill you, but only because of oxygen deprivation. Tritonated water won’t kill you either, unless you drown in it.
Aside from that, panic over Tritium, is likely more deadly or worrysome.
