In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of Word for the Day.

I am posting a night class........will be on a road trip all day. Will try to log in sometime late afternoon. Behave.....let’s not end up in after school detention. I am all out of pink slips.
The primary season always brings out the panjandrums at FR.
The panjandrums, or rather, the people pontificating whilst hanging around in their pajamas, forever changed the landscape of journalism. It has all been to the good.
This can be complicated. It requires two red pills, a good steak and that bottle you've been saving for just such an occasion.
A panjandrum is a kind of drum that sounds like someone hammering a tin pan. They go on sale in January so you buy one for the guy that has an apartment above your ex-wife since he thinks he's a musician. (he'd do better as a blacksmith).
The two red pills are aspirin which you send to the ex-wife instead of the latest check, the steak and bottle are for you as you plan retiring to Costa Rica. (live well for less!)
Panjandrum.
After reading your numerous posts about raising the level of discourse on FR makes you a genuine panjandrum and an advocate of the blogging public; thank you!
Obama is NOT and panjandrum and he IS a panjandrum!
Michelle Obama, a panjandrum of the fashion world....
Donald Trump, the business panjandrum and self-promoter, comes to mind with this word. I have been a Santorum fan for a long time and hope his streak continues.
Did you hear the Vermont Teddybear commercial on Rush?
They talk about the “big surprise” and the “big reward” and “going home happy”...
Yep, no implications there!
“Beware the panjandrum, my son, the jaws that bite, the claws that snatch!”
It sounds as though it belongs from that source.
While I could imagine the term Jabberwonk coming into more popular parlance.
Did Dan Rather sent himself a Pajanadrum for Christmas?
they are the WORST! they are on Fox before Val day too and they are ridiculously gross!
excellent rebus! A+++
I dunno, I have been so cold (have a hot water bottle at my feet right now) that the hoodie footie is looking pretty appealing!
who knew the Italy could be so frigid! was last winter like this?
