(Surprise NBA Star) Jeremy Lin Gives 'All the Praise to God'
Christian Post ^

Posted on 02/13/2012 10:21:10 AM PST by Retired Greyhound

Jeremy Lin may have come out of Friday night's game against the Lakers a star with a career-high 38 points, seven assists and four rebounds. But he's not letting the "Linsanity" overcome the country without giving proper credit to God.

"I just give all the praise to God," Lin said after the game.

Point guard for the New York Knicks, Lin has become a household name overnight. He's being recognized for not only saving the season, but for being the first American player in the NBA to be of Chinese or of Taiwanese descent and for his outspoken Christianity.

Great comparison. Strickland is one of the more underrated players. He was solid.

Strickland was very talented, but had a ten cent head. He was a bit of a problem child off the court with lateness and some other issues if I recall correctly. What is so refreshing about Lin, on top of everything else, is that he is well spoken, humble, and goes out of his way to give his teammates the credit for their success. He is obviously pretty intelligent, which by the way has little to do with going to Harvard, and appears to have great leadership qualities. He was also obviously raised well by his parents and is very down to earth. I read that after the exhausting, whirlwind week he just had, instead of trying to cash in on his newfound fame, he spent his day off yesterday driving a couple of hundred miles with his parents to see his brother play 6 minutes for Hamilton College.

He just kept getting overlooked because he is Asian and doesn’t fit the profile.

exactly - it was racism on the part of NCAA Div 1 basketball programs and by NBA scouts that resulted in him getting zero scholarship offers and being un-drafted. I'm rooting for the kid.

Yeah, I remember when the NY sports media made a big deal about trading for Peyton Manning’s brother and then went about ripping him to shreds. Whatever happened to that guy?

I believe Yao Ming would qualify as an Asian NBA player...he played for the Houston Rockets until recently.

I have NEVER been a Knicks fan, and not even an NBA fan, but now, with the Knicks home court only a 30-minute train-ride away for me, and with someone like Jeremy to root for, I’m checking-out their game schedule today.

The one problem Jeremy has is that his game style is different than the other Knicks’ major starters, so there may be either clashes or loss of productivity by him or the other major Knicks’ starters if/when they are on the court together, which hasn’t happened lately because the other major Knicks;’ starters, like Carmelo Anthony, have not played lately, which was also why lately Jeremy was given a chance.

Along with his shorter height and a smaller ego Jeremy brings a style that passes the ball more, and makes more shots closer to the basket, as opposed to passing the ball less and making more shots (by fewer players) out from a farther distance - the style of the Nicks other major starters. Jeremy does make fewer shots from the longer distances, but his percentage is higher on completing the fewer long shots he does make.

Can Jeremy Lin Thrive with Carmelo in New York? Fan’s Take:

The Mavs should have kept Lin, he’s much better than that turnover machine, Beaubois.

Read closely. Lin is the first “Asian-American” NBA player since 1947. (And I have no idea who that was).

There have been Asian players, but not American-born Asian players. Until now.

Madison Sq. Garden is a great place to watch a game, and I hear the energy with Lin has been amazing.

He and Tyson Chandler have developed a great chemistry in the pick-and-roll. Amare Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony are also great p/r players as well. I think it can work.

The Knicks also have a guy named Steve Novak who is a great spot up 3 pt shooter, and Lin has done an excellent job of drawing in the defense and finding the open shooters, including Novak.

The Knicks will be an interesting team to watch. I would definitely go if I still lived in NY.
