It's a brave decision. Europe and the US, of course, have no interest in the survival of their own culture and traditions. You can laugh at Putin, but the Russians still have the will to defend their culture. We can only defend the culture of others whilst our own slowly sinks into meaninglessness.
Obama is demanding just the opposite. Free birth control, no more babies.

Having more sex is only one (but a very important) step.
1. Get OFF vodka!!!!
2. Become VERY Orthodox!
3. Get married in an Orthodox Church, crowns and all!
4. Have more sex, without contraception or abortion!
5. Raise your children as Orthodox Christians, beginning from their early Baptism!
Then Russia will have what it really needs—an increase in the Russian Orthodox (NOT muslim, NOT communist/atheist) population!!!!

Russia shares borders with China, whose population is huge and has the opposite problem, overpopulation and rapid growth.
Putin is concerned about being overrun by the Mongol hordes. And he's right. I'm sure China would love to expand.

I’m with you, brother. Hasn’t Putin supported the Orthodox Church?

They polled Russian women on the qualities they wanted in a mate and the results were as follows:
1. They bathed.
2. They had better jobs than they did.
3. They did not strike them.

The women should REALLY start with “they’re not drunks”! Nor should they be drunks themselves!

Well stated. When Russia sees large parts of Siberia falling to the Chinese because they can’t find enough Russians to field and army, they will remember Putin’s words.

Easy for him to say, with his knockout model girlfriend. Contrast the attractiveness factor with a 225 lb cement-hauling babushka.
Let me say though that when I last visited in 2005, Russia and Estonia between them had women that simply devastated the Swedes, Norwegians, and Danes.

Agree - but it would only be logical if that’s his next step if he gets power back. Just not a popular thing to say as a candidate.

Having more sex is only one (but a very important) step. You are absolutely correct. Vodka is killing Russian men. Most die before age 60. And Putin knows that capitalism needs growth. That means thay need more babies. Lots more.

He needs to change the country into one where women have the attitude that it is a good place to bring a child into the world.

I also suspect he is watching the birth rates of Muslim women living in Russia.

Maybe what they need is sex education training for their 5 year olds. That seems to be the liberal solution to everything.

Isn't Russia that place where abortion is synonymous with birth control? I seem to remember watching a documentary on this once and one interview with a young woman stuck in my mind because she rather candidly mentioned something about having already had 22 abortions.. or something like that. I believe the official ‘stats’ are that there are 5 or 6 million abortions are year and only about 2 million live births.
