Even with Danica’s exit, there are still two women driving in IndyCar. Both have experience with big crashes; one is Simona de Silvestro, who crashed hard during practice at Indy (and STILL managed to qualify for the race, in an overweight backup car with her hands bandaged!). The other is Katherine Legge, who had 15 minutes of fame back in ‘06, when she crashed in the Kink at Road America during a Champ Car race.

Given all the attention Legge received for crashing, I can only imagine what would ensue for auto racing’s first female driver fatality...

Y’know, it could be worse. Milka Duno still has a ride. Granted, she’s in ARCA, the double-A ball of stock car racing. And she was the first car wrecked out of the ARCA race at Daytona on Saturday. And somehow, someway, despite a decent save when she got spun and managing not to hit ANYTHING and slide onto pit road...the next shot of her car was hanging on the back of a wrecker.

Patrick, de Silvestro, and (maybe) Legge have shown occasional flashes of skill. Patrick’s had some decent runs in Nationwide the past year, and she has won an Indy car race (granted, a fuel economy run, but still, a win’s a win). Duno’s never had anything going for her besides her looks.
