“Bacon”? Really? Like that commercial for those bacon flavored treats where the dog is crazy for bacon?

I don’t watch many movies, but I’m going to check out the 2009 Star Trek on FX tonight-the one that is supposed to show what insane stuff the characters of the original series did when they were first assigned to the big “E” as brash young officers. It sounds amusing-have y’all seen it?

The mention of peas almost wipes out the goodness of bacon.

Is it just me, or is this Whitney Houston thing Michael Jackson deja vu? I don’t understand why her death is more of a “tragedy” than any other family’s loved one who died as a result of substance abuse, unless it is because her hangers-on/enablers won’t be able to push her onto a stage in a lucid moment to make more money for them...

As soon as the deluge stopped this morning, I went wood gathering and spread it out to dry under the trees in front of the garage, noticing that the gutter over the garage doors is full of leaves. I came inside to get a cup of coffee, an apple and some yogurt for breakfast, and turned on the TV to see some of the business shows and some news.

Once the business shows were over, the coverage switched to a crowd of people in NJ talking about Whitney Houston as though her demise happened in a plane crash, or some other accident. I turned it off, worked on a bid-they are still eulogizing, so I’m going to fetch a ladder and clean that gutter...

I think it’s the elephant in the room, ie drug abuse, that makes it all so weird. Not one word at her funeral. The media only cares if it,s Rush.

I don’t mind that they didn’t bring up something like that at the funeral-it wouldn’t have been kind, after all. But why go way off in the other direction, howling and hand wringing as if she had been some saintly woman killed on her way to hand out food to starving orphans? Anyone who has ever looked at the cover of a tabloid at the grocery store knew she had substance abuse problems for years. Like yourself, I’ve dealt with enough addicts in my job over the years to be cynical-I don’t mean any cruelty by it.

That said, I heard on the news last night that some of her doctors and such are already getting lawyered up for the coming investigation and civil suits-from the number of them she visited in just the couple of weeks before she died, it does appear that she was doctor-shopping for drug ‘scrips. ...

OK, so the funeral may not be the place, but stories of the worn Bible made me gag. She had her share of demons, ie drugs.

I went to a funeral for a suicide. Thank, God I just missed the call by minutes. He stood in front of a train, presumably while high on drugs. I would have really freaked had I seen him like that. Heartbreaking.

That is awful-I’m glad you didn’t get the call, too.

they told Bible stories at her funeral? I didn’t see a minute of it-I always avoid so-called celebrity funerals because I don’t believe they6 are any different than the rest of us-I don’t really think that God sees them any differenbtly just because they have a fancy funeral with scores of howling mnourners.
