Here is the question from my sons 10th grade World History homework.
"In both ancient and modern times, one can see countless examples of the strained relationship that exists between Christians and Muslims. WHy do these disagreements continue to occur despite the fact that the beliefs in both religions are so strikingly similar and preach peace before violence."
Because the Islamic definition of peace in this case is submission. Pay the jizya tax and if you keep your head down you might be allowed to keep it attached to your neck... for now.
Answer: Because one side preaches peace and worships the Prince of Peace and the other side practices taqqiya which permits them to lie about peace to non-believers all while sharpening their scimitars to prepare for a sneak attack, which is the strategy promoted in the koran by the Prince of Lies, Mohammed, Pigs be Upon him.
Except for the whole God part. Ours is, theirs isn't.
That and their ideology is fatal to Christians.
Probably doesn't help your son, but I'm growing increasingly tired of 'educators' who try to derive moral equivalency between God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and some moon god that fronts a political system rather than a religion.
One faith says to preach the gospel and if it is rejected, one should shake the dust from his shoes and leave them to their vices. The other says to hold a sword to the throat of the infidel and demand that he submit. if he refuses, then you cut his head off and proceed to the next infidel and start the process over.
First of all, your son needs to discount the notion that Islam is a religion. It isn’t
It’s a political ideology based on some pedophile’s twisted views of how to hate and suppress people with an unhealthy dose of false theology mixed in.
Christians believe in peace. Jesus was a peace loving man and the Spread the word without using the sword. He also preached tolerance.
Islamists believe that the only word is Allah. Killing non-believers is glorious. No other religions are tolerated. They spread their word with fire and death. It is a death cult.
Geez! And I thought a book report on a Nancy Drew novel was tough!
One reason might be that Muslims have been attacking Western Civilization for 1400 years; every time they have the means and opportunity.
It is difficult to “get along” with a group of people who just want to kill you.

Your son needs to look up the various passages in the Koran which incite violence against Christians and Jews to show that this is a false premise.
Because they are antithetical in their beliefs. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father but through Me.” He offered forgiveness to anyone who asks for it through His sacrificial death. Everyone who asks will receive it, regardless of the type of life they led on earth.
Islam is a faith based on works. If a person believes and is good enough, they will enter “paradise”. A person cannot know if he is good enough until they are dead.
Christians believe in the deity of Jesus and that He is the Son of God. Christians believe in the Trinity.
Moslems believe in one god. They reject Christ’s deity.
Christians believe in a personal relationship with God made possible by Christ’s death. Moslems believe that god is impersonal, an aloof deity and that humans are ruled by fate.
If you survey the totality...... most do
If your son tells the truth about Islam you will be getting a letter or a phone call from the school.
There is nothing similar about islam and Christianity.
islam’s god says “sacrifice your son to me”.
Christianity’s God says “My Son was sacrificed for you”.
I'm sorry, but if my child's 10th-grade World History textbook included that phrase (and that assignment), it would be time to strongly consider changing schools.

Why?
1. Muslims believe they have the obligation to kill non-believers (kaffir)
2. Musle ims believe that they, too, have a Messiah, who will receive the support of a second-coming of Jesus.
3. Muslims believe they have the obligation to force the world, by the sword, jizya, or conversion, to be completely Islamic or subjected to the jurisdiction thereof.
Illah was a god of pre-Islamic nomads. The appearance of similar beliefs is akin to knock off merchandise. It’s fake. Allah is not the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Because Muslims can lie as a matter of practice (taqiyya), their protestations are not to be believed.
Why don’t they get along? The top of the Dome of the Rock, in gold, is inscribed with “God has no son.” Well, He does. Muslims will kill you for believing that.
The Islamic culture’s rules are antithetical to freedom. See the hadith, judgments by qadis (judges), and the merging of theological ‘fatwas’ with governmental edits.
There will only be peace in a Muslim world when there is only islam. So, ‘islam’ (submit) or die.
I have studied Islamic culture for fifty years. Think of the whitewashed streets of houses in Southern Spain. The white walls of narrow streets belie what’s inside, which is often beautiful. Islam hides its true belief system with similarly whitewashed fronts.
