Ben & Jerry’s Board of Directors - Occupy Wall Street: We Stand Wth You (Barf Alert)
Ben and Jerry's website ^ | 2/15/2012 | Ben and Jerry's Board of Directors

Posted on 02/26/2012 3:22:13 PM PST by kbobdelux

We, the Ben & Jerry’s Board of Directors, compelled by our personal convictions and our Company’s mission and values, wish to express our deepest admiration to all of you who have initiated the non-violent Occupy Wall Street Movement and to those around the country who have joined in solidarity. The issues raised are of fundamental importance to all of us. These include:

•The inequity that exists between classes in our country is simply immoral.

•We are in an unemployment crisis. Almost 14 million people are unemployed. Nearly 20% of African American men are unemployed. Over 25% of our nation’s youth are unemployed.

•Many workers who have jobs have to work 2 or 3 of them just to scrape by.

•Higher education is almost impossible to obtain without going deeply in debt.

•Corporations are permitted to spend unlimited resources to influence elections while stockpiling a trillion dollars rather than hiring people.

We know the media will either ignore you or frame the issue as to who may be getting pepper sprayed rather than addressing the despair and hardships borne by so many, or accurately conveying what this movement is about. All this goes on while corporate profits continue to soar and millionaires whine about paying a bit more in taxes. And we have not even mentioned the environment.

We know that words are relatively easy but we wanted to act quickly to demonstrate our support. As a board and as a company we have actively been involved with these issues for years but your efforts have put them out front in a way we have not been able to do. We have provided support to citizens’ efforts to rein in corporate money in politics, we pay a livable wage to our employees, we directly support family farms and we are working to source fairly traded ingredients for all our products. But we realize that Occupy Wall Street is calling for systemic change. We support this call to action and are honored to join you in this call to take back our nation and democracy.

— Ben & Jerry’s Board of Directors

Who’s on our Board?

What’s our position on the issues that matter? •Big Picture, Small World •Fair Trade •Climate Justice •Peace Building •Caring Dairy

Does Ben & Jerry’s spend money on lobbying in the United States? Ben & Jerry’s has launched numerous activist campaigns over the years that are considered lobbying activities according to federal and state laws.

In the past four years, the positions we have taken in these activist campaigns are: 1.Support for a Constitutional amendment that would limit corporate spending in elections. 2.Support for stronger social and environmental protections in the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement. 3.Support for the Youth PROMISE Act, which funds proven youth violence prevention programs. 4.Support for continued funding for the United States Institute of Peace. 5.Support for continued funding for the Complex Crises Fund which supports State Department emergency efforts to defuse volatile conflicts around the globe. 6.Support for aggressive federal legislation to limit and reduce carbon emissions to respond to the challenge of climate change. 7.Opposition to FDA approval of foods from cloned animals. 8.Support for a USDA program to require mandatory tracking of cloned animals in the food supply to support consumer choice. 9.Opposition to FDA approval of genetically engineered animals in the food supply. 10.Support for the right of dairy companies to label their products as being ‘rBGH-free.’ 11.Support for the United Nations Millennium Development goals to eradicate extreme poverty and inequality.

Ben & Jerry’s has reported all expenditures on these grassroots campaign activities as required by federal and Vermont state law.

It’s funny to watch the hypocrisy. So why do those faggot bastards charge so much money for their ice cream? They are also part of the “1%”.

Like all the Marxist billionaries, Soros, Buffet, Gates - they want to have their “cake and eat it too”.

This pandering from these hypocrites to these Occupy Degenerates reminds me of what happens in nature when leftist morons go too far in their assumptions.

Oh these Occupiers are peaceful angels. Keep kissing their asses. When it hits the fan and they start beating business owners and looting - you will not be spared you placating frauds Ben & Jerry.

You will be just like “The Grissly Man”. I remember watching this idiot Tim Treadwell and how offensive and obnoxious he was in his documentary - until the end - when this nature worshipping leftist became a victim of his delusional view of nature, mankind and our proper role in the world.

Here’s the synopsyis if you don’t know who Treadwell was:

“For 13 years, Timothy Treadwell spent his summers on the Alaskan Peninsula, living among wild bears and, for the last five years, videotaping his life there. His winters were spent touring elementary schools and making television appearances, in an effort to educate people about the plight of the animals he loved. This continued until October 5, 2003, when Treadwell and his girlfriend were attacked and killed by a bear.”

high salaries to liberal teachers and admins who recycle the money to Dem orgs. Sort of like the union dues scam

I prefer to call it a form of money laundering.

Well, tried their “eco-mission” game for “craps & giggles,” I chose the Elvis 1955 Caddy and I tried to run the yippies, who needed shower, over but instead, they wanted to bum a ride off of me. I’d say, “how about some gas money, man, your hero Stymie in the White Hut is ‘stymie-ing’ our progress of getting our energy here at home.” BTW, the game crashed my browser too.

those receiving the education will be benefitting from it - they should pay the bill.....

Sounds good but it won’t happen as planned. If Obama gets reelected just watch the student loan industry go bust and debt forgiven at taxpayer expense. Another buy votes operation.

Fine and dandy, it is a free country and they can choose to support whomever they wish, as for me and my house we choose not to buy their products

Rape is an act of violence. Occupants haveshielded their tent villages from rape investigations.

Occupy is a pro-rape pro-violence movement.
