why waste the fuel and money on transport? We could fly them to the island....but kick em’ out mid flight, hopefully above a nice mountain range.

That would be a violation of the endangered species act and the EPA would come after you... Plus the pollution on the island itself would be another issue the EPA would be concerned about.
