Speaking of things that spark profanity, what has happened to your team? Is it the weight gain of the captain? Does he need Greenie’s personal trainer?

Judge: Madame, are your trying to show contempt for this court???

Mae West: No, Judge, I am trying very hard to CONCEAL it!

and most especially why not the F word, which is just some arbitrarily designated BAD WORD. someone could decide that SNORK is just even worse than the F word and prohibit its use etc. as obscene. Now i am very bothered by and do not take Jesus name in vain. THAT i totally understand being offensive.

I enjoy profanity as much as the next guy, but don’t enjoy it overheard in a restaurant or on a bus. There is a time and a place for everything.

Rush’s resort to insult made the story about him instead of the audacity of demanding things for free.

Those are our conventions. We need strong words for strong times. When used all of the time, they lose their ability to impact.

Even South Park did an episode about this!

Remember the movie Fargo? When the customer was getting the treatment about the undercoating and how he was going to have to pay more for his new car than they had agreed upon. He writes the check, but also spits out some profanity. You know he doesn’t use those words often, but saves them up for these types of occasions.

My son wanted me to meet him at the Newman Center at BU for mass Sunday night, so, after already having gone to mass Saturday night, I reluctantly went. Boy, what a surprise. It was standing room only, the place was filled with students. They had a choir complete with violin, all were students. There were less than a dozen adults there....I mean old people. During the consecration those standing dropped to their knees and all bowed their heads. They were reverent and attentive. After mass the priest requested they all say 3 Hail Marys and they did....on their knees. I left there inspired for the future of my church. After mass as we walked out, they were the most decent BU students I had ever met.

The years I worked overnight at Wegmans I met the worst of them. Refreshing to meet the best.

it takes an inspirational priest who requires such reverance, and i think MANY young people can be brought back to the church.

I’m sorry to hear about Darby and yes, it was very nice of Darby’s last owners to let you know.

The priest seemed pretty ordinary, in his 60s, gray hair with a goatee. Though he was warm and friendly, I didn’t sense any great charisma. God works in his own ways.

Sorry to hear about Darby, I think Loosh was a pup when I joined the class. I heard about Darby tough. Our Missy looks old, she has a sore on her back that I have to take her to the vet’s to check out.

There are various red sodas out there and I’m sure we all like whatever we have grown up with so we think “Big Red” is the best one.
