DENVER, - Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) says his introduction of his lieutenant governor to an audience of school children as a "sex star" was a compliment gone awry.
"I didn't mean 'sex symbol,' I meant 'rock star,' but I said 'sex star,'" Hickenlooper said Thursday, the day after his ill-fated effort to describe Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia during a literacy event at Colfax Elementary School in Denver. "It was a poorly designed effort to pay compliments to Joe.
"This might go down as one of my most difficult press conferences in the history of the office.
"As I say to my wife all the time, there's always 5 feet between me and disaster. That's the distance between my foot and my mouth."
Garcia took it all in stride.
"He calls me a rock star a lot," the lieutenant governor told the Post. "I'm really a pretty straight-arrow, boring kind of guy."
Well, well, well...
This Colorado D makes Texas Republican R, Rick Perry, look like a world class communicator.
And to a class of school children, yet.

I’m telling you right now folks, don’t underestimate this guy. He is an ardent lefty but a VERY clever politician. He will most likely be easily re-elected in this erstwhile red state. And he could very well be a threat nationally down the road.
Your approaching this the wrong way: You might want to search for people who support him, then broadcast their names as the imbeciles they are; not unlike that activist woman at one of are great catholic institutions, who I hope is ostracized for her hypocrisy and utter fraudulent admission to that college. My hope is that this hydra is expelled for the above facts about her wretched activities, not to mention her evil motives in the first place. Fascist-minded people are not happy unless they’re disturbing somebody’s waters.

I agree. He has gone far because he comes across as real, not contrived. He is a poor public speaker, but he has a huge following in Colorado. He also knows how to project a image of being a normal and moderate guy. And he can pull that off one on one, or in front of a crowd.
