According to the Associated Press, with the fear climate change could wipe out the country, leaders of the Pacific island nation of Kiribati are considering moving its population to Fiji. Kiribati President Anote Tong and his government Cabinet have backed a plan to purchase close to 6,000 acres on the island of Viti Levu in Fiji. Rising sea levels blamed on global warming are threatening to cover the island.
* The CIA World Factbook reports the country's population in July is estimated to be 101,998.

That's how they can say such outrageous things. They are stand up comics!
Make that a rise of 1 foot every 600 years!
Even the kookiest global warmers don't claim a sea-level rise of 10 feet in 13 years. You know the HOTTEST temperature EVER, since 1880. Before 1880, gosh we don't know...but better give me some money just in case.
LOL!!!
Charlie: Bart, am I wrong? Or is the world... rising?
Bart: I don't know. But whatever it is, I hate it.
Um, that invitation is not a way to stock up for of a rebirth of the old ways in the "Cannibal Isles"?
I may not be a scientist, but common sense seems to indicate that sea levels used to be rising but have since leveled out.
“Maybe they are afraid that their island might tip? A politician, by the name of Jefferson, I think, said something of that nature a few years ago, correct?”
Congressman Hank Johnson. Watch the Admiral he’s telling this B.S. to, keep a straight face (he deserves a medal for it):

The inhabitants of this group of islands have problems that immediate enough that any predicted sea-level rise, or global warming is irrelevant. The population of the islands grew from about 20k to over a 100k since WWII. As a result of this, the water pumped out is frequently more than the rainfall supplies. This results in two major land effects: that the land subsides; and that saltwater flows inward to replace the fresh water pumped out. Global warming, and climate change, even if they were accurately predicted aren’t relevant. Describing this as a “Global Warming catastrophe” is nothing more than scare-mongering of the ridiculously gullible regardless of ones beliefs on AGW and sea-level rise.
Is it pertinant to point out that the island nation of Kiribati consists of 33 islands with a total area of 313 square miles.
I'm starting to thjink my science teachers were flat wrong - water cannot possible seek its own level. Lived on the MS Gulf Coast since '86 and have yet to see evidence of rising sea levels. Maybe it only happens where it will hurt women, children, minorities, and future Fijians most.
Thanks. Do coral atolls settle also?
