"The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.' "

We’re looking forward to it, Vision.

we’ll miss Steel’s synopses, though...

Hi Gina, it is what it is.

How was your week? What do you like tonight?

Vision, it looks like an all-around good lineup. I’ll like hearing Escape and the Lux Theater, as always.

We had a fair week. I got most of a load off my mind in nearly completing a speech I’ve been asked to give at two different Tea Party groups coming up. One group wants me to talk for half an hour, so that’s quite a bit of writing (I don’t trust myself to go impromptu). I’ll find out how long the other group wants, and just edit the same speech down. The groups are in two different cities in two different states, so I figure I can get by with doing that.

Right now, Keith is watching golf on the laptop, and I’m doing laundry—just cracked our first beer for the evening. Gray sky day here today, but nice mild temperatures in the 60s.

Well, this isn't the quality of SteelYourFaith's, but it beats a poke in the eye.

On the Frank Race, I'm just going by the date, since the program says it has no title, even though a title is given at WAMU.

OH! I almost forgot: SPOILER ALERT!!!

-----------------

Yours Truly, Johnny Dollar. November 12, 1961. CBS net, KRLD, Dallas aircheck. "The Wrong One Matter". Sponsored by: Sustaining, Enchanted Meadows (local). Johnny is out in the Everglades to investigate a decomposing corpse. Mandel Kramer, Martin Blaine, Bill Lipton, Jim Boles, Art Hannes (announcer), Jack Johnstone (writer), Bruno Zirato Jr. (producer), Ethel Huber (music supervisor), Edward Oats (director). 25:29. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Complete.

Dragnet. March 16, 1950. Program #40. NBC net. "The Big Boys". Sponsored by: Fatima. A gang of four robbers, and their puppy (!) have come to Los Angeles from San Francisco, planning to pull a job. A long stake-out with an alcoholic desk clerk provides results. Jack Webb, Barton Yarborough. 29:28. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Complete.

Gunsmoke. June 6, 1953. CBS net. "Sundown". Sustaining. Marshal Dillon and Chester find an Indian squaw dying on the prairie and suspects foul play. A good story! William Conrad (writer, performer), John McIntire, Michael Ann Barrett, Parley Baer, Lawrence Dobkin, John Dehner, Georgia Ellis, Norman Macdonnell (director), Rex Koury (composer, conductor), Howard McNear, Roy Rowan (announcer). 30:05. Audio condition: Excellent. Complete.

The Challenge Of The Yukon. September 18, 1947. ABC net. "The Fraud". Sustaining. Five thousand dollars has been collected for Father McCarthy's Indian Mission. When the priest finally arrives, he's not at all what folks expected. In fact, he's not even Father McCarthy! Paul Sutton, Mildred Merrill (writer), El Prowell (announcer). 29:37. The Adventures Of Frank Race. May 8, 1949. Program #2. Broadcasters Program Syndicate syndication. Commercials added locally. An untitled story. The wife of an ex-G. I. has been murdered, just after they've had a fight in public. Tom Collins, Tony Barrett, Buckley Angel (writer, director), Joel Murcott (writer, director), Bruce Eells (producer), Ivan Ditmars (organist), Art Gilmore (announcer), Gerald Mohr, Faye Kennedy. 26:33. Audio condition: Excellent. Otherwise complete.

Escape. December 6, 1949. Program #15. CBS net origination, AFRTS rebroadcast. "Command". A good story about the U. S. Cavalry being menaced by hostile Indians. One young officer thinks his commander is a fool. The script was rebroadcast on Escape on May 26, 1950. James Warner Bellah (author), William N. Robson (director), Elliott Reid. 1/2 hour. Audio condition: Very good to excellent. Complete.

The Lux Radio Theatre. November 7, 1949. CBS net. "The High Wall". Sponsored by: Lux (all but one commercial deleted). A wounded pilot seems to have murdered his wife. Amazing. So how does it feel?

Bizarre. Of course, with the Left, "logic" is a foreign concept. I did get a few emails from the Kooks, because one of them posted my work email down in the comments section. I shot gaping holes in their "arguments" they emailed to me (after wading through the profanities hurled at me by one of them).

Hello, Dr. Scarpetta!

It’s good to see you an hour early this week. Changing the time twice a year is the pits. I always ask why we can’t split the difference by half an hour and leave it alone!

Thanks for the heads up. I'm on day 5 of 6 doses of antibiotic. Have been fighting a case of bronchitis. It was a miserable week. On the good side, this one will be much better!
