HILLANDALE, Md.,-- A Maryland woman said she was shocked when she saw her receipt from Radio Shack identified her as an "ugly itch" from "ghettohood, usa, tattoville, Maryland."
Shanae Lewis said she had a disagreement with a salesman at the Hillandale Radio Shack when she purchased a $20 cassette adapter and the salesman told her about Montgomery County's 5-cent bag tax, which she had never heard of because she is from Baltimore, WUSA-TV, Baltimore, reported Tuesday.
Lewis said she argued with the salesman for a few minutes before asking for a refund, which she received along with a receipt.
She said she was shocked to find the words "ugly itch, ghettohood, usa, tattoville, Maryland" typed at the bottom of the receipt.
Lewis said the salesman admitted to typing the words and said he was kidding, but she was not amused.
"I was shocked more so than anything, and then I became angry," Lewis said.
Lewis said she has contacted Radio Shack's corporate office and hopes to get the salesman fired.

Time to pull up a chair, pop some corn, and watch the show.
Heh.
Don’t anger your Machine overloards! They talk about you behind your back....Quick look the toaster is laughing at you.. LOL
Well, she IS an ugly one, and she looks to be from the ghetto.
All in all, he wasn’t misportraying her.
Finally those intrusive Radio Shack questions have a purpose.
All in fun, all in the hood! If this were a white guy Radio Shack would be filing chapter 11.
Lighten up...don’t act like a *itch, and maybe this wouldn’t happen. If that is a pic of the ‘offending’ clerk; this won’t go anywhere.
In Maryland, no outrage is too small.
looks like he was being straight up from here
Sign that guy up for the Bill Maher show.
she aint ugly until Laz says...
Huh? 5-cent bag tax?! Seriously?
Definately an insulting receipt, but I knew from reading the title who would have been insulted, based on media reporting patterns.
DC had one first, then of course, the good people of MoCo had to follow suit - wouldn’t want to be seen as harming the environment, don’t ya know.
Another moment of retail friction brought to us by pointless taxation.
How long will it be before we find out this receipt was photoshopped too?
I can’t believe the comments I’m reading on this thread. Are you people serious? Do you in any way at all think that this is appropriate customer service? If this clown worked for me he’d be fired immediately.
Really? That's a comment you want posted in a public place? How would you like it if a store clerk called your wife or your mother a bitch after ringing her up?
Well said. The clerk was way out of line.

If she was being rude to the employee, in my book she loses all rights to not receiving rudeness back.
Eye for an eye.
I hope she succeeds in getting his ass canned.
I agree that if this went down as reported the clerk should
be fired.
I’m wondering how this could have happened - do point-of-sale devices have the ability to allow typed in comments
on the register slip?
Too bad you can’t vote customers off the planet.
.
He shouldn’t have done it, and wil lprobably be fired -
But - still - it is kind of funny. Working with the public can really just get to you sometimes.
I can’t see myself doing it = but I can certainly imagine thinking about it!
They have to be dead three days before Laz rejects them.
Sheesh. You'd starve if you had to rely on me for your living.
You've never been to a Radio Shack, I take it. Yes, they bombard you with name/address/phone/etc. questions, all for their marketing people to exploit. It prints as part of the receipt.
The real question is - does the register allow editing of this information after the transaction is completed?
i toASt therefore i am!
I’ve noticed numerous comments on FR that could be taken in a racists manner. I am for giving people the benefit of the doubt here. But nonetheless, its something I noticed over and over.
I hope if it is not imagined, it is simply the friend of my enemy is my enemy mindset. Since black and brown tend to vote democrat. The country is going to continue to get darker, that is a fact. The white population in the US is barely replacing itself. Its necessary to change hearts and minds. Its necessary to assimilate immigrants. You don’t want to push them into the other camp.
Laz, they’re taking your name in vain over here, and since I think they mis-spelled the courtesy ping....
LOL
har har har
We have no proof of how the woman acted. All we have is the register receipt, which is only proof of the employee’s rudeness. BTW, I would also protest a bag tax.

Not for years. I usually go to Fry’s for my computer/consumer electronics needs. They
have never asked me for any personal data not needed to complete a sale.
Fine and dandy. But why protest to the store employee? Why get on their case? Especially, as she admits, for a while before then demanding a refund (which is her right, BTW)
Well, it was dumb on the part of the cashier (firing stupid if you ask me), but the thing’s accurate.

"I got my itch some Gold Bond. Itches Itches LOVE Gold Bond."
Lost in this kerfuffle is the fact the clerk was correct: There IS a 5-cent tax on plastic bags there.
What’s the problem? Looks to me like he was right on target...
.
If this is real, the clerk should be fired.
Hell, if this were a white guy, he’d be executed at sunrise.
.
UPI is still around?
Hmm...did she tell the clerk to put that information in that way in the hope of threatening a lawsuit for the offense later?
Or is this something the clerk did of his own accord?
Move along, please.
I've noticed numerous comments in school, work, government, military, sports, homes, public transportation, supermarkets, etc. "that could be taken in a racists manner".
If a black man makes a derogatory comment to a black woman about her race, is that racist? If an Irishman calls another Irishman a "mick", is he being culturally insensitive? How about an Italian calling another Italian a "Wop"?
Is this even a transgression to use these words in a discussion of the situation, that is, are they not to be used even when discussing an issue in the same way the "N" word and the "C" word are?
If the answer is that those are not examples of cultural or racial insensitivity, then you must by definition believe there are and should be different speech codes for different groups of people. Do you believe that?
No fooling...
