The wildlife of Africa was much better off when hunting was acceptable. It made the wildlife a valuable natural resource.
Now the indigenous populations consider wildlife to be pests.

The wildlife of Africa was much better off when hunting was acceptable. It made the wildlife a valuable natural resource. Now the indigenous populations consider wildlife to be pests. In the days of wealthy people doing African safaris, you would have the hunter having to pay big bucks to the African government for licenses to shoot particular animals. He would spend a few weeks wandering the bush, employing a bunch of Africans to act as porters for the gear, cooking and cleaning up the camp, etc. It would make the wildlife a big source of income, and as you said, created an incentive to want them around.

What would liberals rather have... a controlled safari hunt where the hunter pays a fortune for his hunt in tags, guides, porters, etc.? Or would they rather have some local yo-yo with an AK going out to nail a bull elephant for the value of it’s tusks?
