Iron Lady Smeared
Vanity ^ | 3/18/2012 | Self

The Iron Lady isn’t a political film. It isn’t even an insightful biopic. It’s a different kind of movie, and belongs in a different kind of category. File alongside ‘Plan 9 From Outer Space’, ‘Billy The Kid Versus Dracula’ and ‘Falling In Love’. Laughably dire.

A very old Lady has been smeared for being old. Throughout the movie she is smeared as a tottering old Lady tormented by hallucinations of her husband. She is dismissed by her son for not being able to pay for a trip from South Africa. She is marginalized to the maximum.

But there is one big problem: Margaret Thatcher is Much Alive.

Imagine if Geraldine Ferraro had been smeared like this. The howls of the left would go around the world on every TV screen and newspaper. Yet again, someone like Mrs. Thatcher is seen as fair game while she is this elderly.

Well, I for one, have decided not to watch any Meryl Streep or Liberal Movies anymore not wanting to WASTE MY MONEY or TIME on such Slime.

The Left Descends Yet again.

The Left has nothing substantive to offer, only argumentum ad hominem - personal attacks and smears. They could not and cannot possibly win in the forum of ideas against true conservatives like Margaret Thatcher and what she stood for and the things she accomplished.

It sure does.

We saw this movie. The scenes where the story of the young and middle aged Thatcher was told were wonderful. But that was only about one third of the movie. The rest was nothing but a mish-mash of Alzheimers behaviors. It was very disrespectful of a great lady. I was unhappy that Streep won the Oscar but I suspect they gave it to her as she hadn't won in a long time. The Oscars are nothing but political. I hope someone makes a movie about Baroness Thatcher that shows how she ‘transformed’ Britain, if only for a short time. She was a real force for good in the world but had the wrong political ideology for the ‘celebrity culture’ that is dominant.

our govt is a mob of criminals headed by a kenyan terrorist, yet conservatives still send them money

our public schools are full of homo agenda liberal indoctrination teams and yet conservatives still send them their kids

hollyweird is brick by brick tearing apart everything once true and noble about America and yet conservatives still buy their crap and spend how many hours a day in front of the brainwash box

why give your money your kids and your business to the liberal Taliban and act surprised at the results?

My wife and I saw the movie. I thought it was very well acted by Streep, but I found the movie boring and doozed off a few times. My wife had to wake me (probably due to my snoring. lol). I don’t know if they did a fair job or not, but I do know that Streep looked like Thatcher big time.

Let's face it - we're seeing the fruit of abandoning the God of the Bible and replacing it with man's religion: the religion of humanism. The fruit of this doctrine of the devil has been, among other things, has been "free love", "women's liberation," abandonment of marriage and abandonment of the family. The hippie movement along with its drugs and Marxism, also made victims of their own children - the "latch-key", day-care-center children - through such abandonment. The results are not at all surprising. The victims of abandoning the God of the Bible are the abandoned children who God meant to be a blessing to those who have turned against Him.

I believe we are nearing the end of the age, "the day of vengeance" the Bible calls it, where like Noah and Lot, God will take believers in Jesus out of this world and then will rain judgement (and mercy for awhile) on those on the earth who "received not the love of the truth" but "love and make a lie."

If you love your children, you will Homeschool them or at least use a good Private School. We Homeschooled our son when the school system said they would graduate him even if he couldn't read.

He was about to go into the ninth grade and they continually passed him on though we complained that he could not read each year. They also then said he would never go to college.

My wife brought him up 5 reading levels (tested) in one year through Homeschooling. He went to ROTC and got a to go to Valley Forge Military College (yes that Valley Forge), graduated from College and Air-force Basic with Honors.

He is now a Staff Sargent in the Air-force and is saving up enough money to put himself through the Police Academy if Obama gets rid of too many folks like him.

No thanks to the Governmental, dumbed down education system run by folks who falsify tests (they did that here in Georgia) to get by the No Child Left Behind Act.

If you Love your Children, you will Homeschool them. If you feel you can't Homeschool choose a decent Private School before it is too late and your children have no lasting legacy.

Actually, Streep does a good job, but the screenplay is so disjointed that if you didn't know about Thatcher you'd be lost.

and it equates her discussions with her dead husband with senility, whereas this phenomenon is actually a healthy sign of mourning in those who were married a long time.

So the family is supposed to be happy that her senility is shown world wide? That there is no respect for an elderly lady.

Brave new world, Huh?

Yes, That was my point: They made her out to be senile by emphasizing her rememberances that were shown as talking to her dead husband.

But visual hallucinations are not a sign of senility, and such things annoy me as a physician.... (they could be a result of temporal lobe epilepsy or a drug reaction, for example if she had recently started on medicine for Parkinson’s disease...but not Alzheimer’s).

It is a normal grief reaction to feel the presence of a recently deceased spouse. Even in the movie it shows her being aware that she isn’t “seeing” her husband (i.e. not a hallucination, but an imaginary discussion with her dead husband)...if they had pressented it a little different, as a dramatic way for her to review her life, it wouldn’t have been insulting at all...

The real problem with the movie is that it glosses over her life. If you know a lot about her life, you could see the snippets as part of her history, but for most folks outside the UK, the back and forth is confusing...
