If the SF County Sheriff is an elected official, what right does a Mayor have to demand resignation????

Exactly. County sheriffs serve and answer to the county electorate only. Not even the President can remove a sheriff. A mayor or president can demand a resignation of a sheriff, but it means nothing. I suppose if the sheriff is unable to perform their duty (jail, long term illness) that local statutes exist to elect a new sheriff.

It would be a messy affair but the Mayor can pull it off if the Board of Stupidvisors also acts to boot his butt.

Officially no other means short of recall or election is available. The DoJ and State AG aren’t likely to do much other than shrug.

all over “misconduct”.. lol.. That’s what the Kennedys used to call a night out.
