Theres a 217-acre college campus with 43 buildings in Northfield, Massachusetts, that is vacant. Hobby Lobby, a craft-store chain set about to repair the facility, pouring millions of dollars into the project, so it can give it away to a reliable Christian organization that has the financial backing to take the property over and establish a college. Liberty University, founded by the late Jerry Falwell, is interested, and this has people in Northfield upset:
Some people are so nervous about Libertys potential takeover of the land that a petition against the institution has been launched. In fact, alumni of the Northfield Mount Hermon prep school the school that owned the site until 2009 are petitioning against the potential Christian owners, alleging that Liberty is extremist and narrow in its teachings.
The intolerance of the Left is astounding. The New York Times reports the following:
More than 1,000 alumni of Northfield Mount Hermon have signed a petition calling Liberty an extremist, homophobic and intellectually narrow institution that clashes with the values of D. L. Moody, an evangelist who opened a school for girls on the property, his birthplace, in 1879.
Whoever comes in there should have views consistent with the legacy of the place, said John Howley, a Northfield Mount Hermon alumnus and former trustee who signed the petition, which is addressed to the chairman of the schools board of trustees. He described Moody as a promoter of big-tent Christianity. We dont want it to go to a place that is not open-minded, not willing to listen to the views of others, he said.
I sincerely doubt that Dwight L. Moody would have tolerated homosexuality given his views on Gods law as expressed in his book on the Ten Commandments Weighed and Wanting:
Now men may cavil as much as they like about other parts of the Bible, but I have never met an honest man that found fault with the Ten Commandments. Infidels may mock the Lawgiver and reject Him who has delivered us from the curse of the law, but they cant help admitting that the commandments are right . . . they are for all nations, and will remain the commandments of God through the centuries. . . . The people must be made to understand that the Ten Commandments laws are still binding, and that there is a penalty attached to their violation. . . . Jesus never condemned the law and the prophets, but He did condemn those who did not obey them [see Matthew 5:1719].
Heres another example of Dwight L. Moodys big-tent Christianity and open-mindedness.
Marriage is one of the institutions that existed in Eden; it is older than the fall. It is the most sacred relationship that can exist between human beings, taking precedence even of the relationship of the parent and child. Someone has pointed out that as in the beginning God created one man and one woman, this is the true order for all ages.
Did you catch that?: one man and one woman . . . the true order of the ages.
They should GO, and take their ‘paychecks’ and trade with them!
Did you catch that?: one man and one woman . . . the true order of the ages.
Yes, that is so evil....

Based on this you could not sell it to:
Any Homosexual organization
Barack Obama
The DNC
The NAACP
Planned Parenthood
Any muslim organization
and finally yourself as you have just proved your intolerance....
I wonder if an Islamic center would be more palatable?
The DNC?
Is that the Democrat National Committee?
Hobby Lobby is a good brand and we’re happy customers of theirs. I also always respected that they’re closed on Sunday, right along with Chik Fil A.
The fact that Hobby Lobby is pouring millions into planting seeds to help grow a Christian college... makes me respect them even more.
Now that’s something that could be easily arranged.
fyi
Northfield is on the NH & VT borders, south of Brattleboro/Keene and north of lefty college towns Northampton and Amherst. It is rural lefty territory.
There is one where I used to live. I liked the place. Never had any problems with them. In fact sold better quality fabric than Jo Ann’s and their sales people are not rude unlike Jo Ann’s.
Worth noting this is happening in Massachusetts.
One of the worst states in America.
They don’t want Christian students in their town challenging left-wing orthodoxy. They might (horrors!) actually make some Lefty doubt the dogma.
.....so we're going to be closed-minded about this, and keep out anyone who holds views different from ours.
they don’t object to one of the biggest Mosques in North America being built in Boston, but just keep those Christians out of town
what say we offer them asylum in Londonstan
I live in Lynchburg, and if the Massachusetts town’s people could only know what I know. Liberty turns out fine kids. Our company hires them every chance we get. They live cleanly, respect the law and show up for work on time. And they marry and have lots of kids, which means they work hard.
I’m not a member of Falwell’s church and I didn’t go to Liberty, but the proof is in the product.
Oh, I can see why the residents would want a liberal college - for the business benefits. These kids at Liberty probably won't drink as much, won't use drugs as much, won't visit strip clubs as much, won't patronize abortion clinics as much, won't create more government jobs for police patrols, and won't smoke as much. How can you collect vice taxes from kids who don't overwhelmingly induldge in vice?
And showing up for work on time merely shows their disdain for environmentally-friendly public transportation - if they used public transportation they could rarely get there on time! /sarc

Too bad. New England used to be a place where belief in God was accepted and honored. Not any more.
