Tim Tebow's arrival in New York already has upset one New York Jets quarterback -- Drew Stanton.
The veteran backup, who signed a one-year, $1.25 million contract last Friday to be the No. 2 quarterback, has asked to be traded or released, a league source confirmed to ESPN Insider Adam Schefter.
The Jets are currently trying to trade Stanton, a source said.
Stanton is said to be unhappy because he was promised the No. 2 job and turned down more lucrative opportunities with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Kansas City Chiefs to play for the Jets. He received a $500,000 signing bonus, but he could have a hard time finding a new team because the backup jobs are filling up.
General manager Mike Tannenbaum confirmed earlier this week that Stanton was to be Mark Sanchez's primary backup, but the Jets changed the plan when they acquired Tebow late Wednesday night in a trade with the Denver Broncos.
"Tim is our backup quarterback. Mark is our starter," Tannenbaum said Thursday morning on ESPN Radio's "Mike and Mike in the Morning."

Elway has always loathed Tebow.
The Jets have already said Tebow is 3rd string and they wont play him unless he changes IE stops talking about his faith.
So what’s Stanton’s beef.

The Broncos did this to get rid of Tebow, the article states as much. If the Jets had any sense they would trade Tebow to Jacksonville and try to repair their locker room.
Btw, first time in my life that I am going to be rooting AGAINST Manning thanks to him being on the Broncos.

Huh? The Jets GM has made it clear that Tebow will be used in the Wildcat and is the #2 QB behind Sanchez. A lot of media guys were insisting Tebow would not be the #2 (to protect Sanchez’s supposedly fragile psyche more than anything else), but Tannenbaum clearly stated Tebow is his backup. He sounded like he felt sorry for Stanton.
Stanton would do well to follow Tebow’s example and count his blessings and make the best of things. Think about it, Tebow goes from being a #1, who led his team to a playoff win, to being a #2 for another team, and he embraces it, and has been nothing but positive.
Stanton gets demoted from #2 to #3 (not a whole lot of difference unless #1 gets hurt) while still making #2 money, and whines and cries like a spoiled, litttle girl.
A real man would just shut up, make the best of it, and if he is as good as he apparently thinks he is, beat out Tebow for the #2 spot in training camp.
Depends on how you look at picks. The NE dynasty has been built on 2 for 1 pick deals. A 4th and a 6th for a player you don’t like and a 7th is a pretty good deal.
As for the Jets mess, well it’s the Jets, they’re a mess.

What does Tebow’s contract say? With any luck he will be a free agent after a year and be able to go someplace else after a year like Farve.
I love it when they bring up the completion percentage. They seem to completely forget that Tebow won 2 National titles in College and that his O-Line was non-existant. Only Ben Roethlisberger has been proven to be better at passing when out of the pocket than in it and yet all the NFL “Experts” (Which is hilarious in and of itself; accurately judging and/or quantifying human behavior is nigh impossible) expect Tim to be a superstar out of the pocket.
Finally, let’s not forget that Tebow has one of the highest overall IQ’s of all QB’s and has by far and away the greatest work ethic. Methinks the NFL hates him because of his outspoken faith...

Tebow’s college completion percentage. The guy can pass however it is very hard to pass accurately with A)receivers that would not even start on any other team and B) an o-line that couldn’t block a butterfly.
Let’s see what he can do with a decent O-line and decent receiver before you say I am delusional.
Nah. Sports is business. Denver got a chance to get one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time and they took it. There was little interest in Tebow because most felt he couldn’t make them any money in a timely manner and weren’t interested in trying to “develop” him.
Tebow has the chance to be of Steve Young quality, but he’ll need another 4 or 5 years of seasoning to get there.
College record means nothing, he’s in the pros now.
His 0-line isn’t that bad.
Nobody expects him to be a superstar out of the pocket actually the primary criticism of him is how horrible he is IN the pocket completely unable to master basic timing passes.
Very intelligently missing your receiver by 5 yards is still missing your receiver by 5 yards and when all that work ethic doesn’t get the ball any closer to your receivers it really didn’t work. Nobody hates him at all, much less for his faith. They simply point out the plainly obvious fact that he’s not a very good QB. He a nice guy, the problem is there’s a bunch of people out there that think just because he prays must mean he’s great at everything and all criticism is evil, meanwhile out here in reality he’s not great and he faces the same criticism every other QB that can’t hit open receivers gets.
That Manning to Denver deal sure stirred up a lot of ensuing hornets nests in its wake and not just related only to Tim Tebow.

While Tebow did miss his receivers, I also watched his receivers drop 4-5 catchable passes a game. I would like to know what his completion percentage would be if those drops were factored out.
Btw, I like Tebow because of his MORALS. I could care less that he is a Christian but it’s refreshing to see a young man who doesn’t A)shoot himself in the leg, B)Have 40 different kids by 40 different women, C) Can talk in a way that I can actually understand, D) Works hard and doesn’t complain, E) Hasn’t murdered or raped anyone... the list goes on and on. The NFL, instead of celebrating these virtues, celebrates players such as RAY LEWIS.

It is delusional to suggest that Tebow was traded because of his public displays of faith.
These are football decisions. They may be bad decisions. But they are business decisions. That's all.
Give him a decent O-line and decent receivers and if he still puts up similar numbers I will completely agree with you. Until then, his college numbers matter more.
