Anyone have (or fired) a Sig Sauer?

I'm in the market for a pistol and was talking to a client of mine (ex RAF EOD) who has a pretty good collection (and a shooting gallery in his basement) and he mentioned the Sig Sauer as his favorite (along with the Baretta) but I can't remember which model he mentioned.

Anyone have any advice on Sigs in general and which models are worth checking out?

Then it's not "dual mode." That trigger system is referred to as "DA/SA," and I have a few Sigs in that trigger configuration.

.

And they are very accurate weapons:

The above card was split with this:

Great advice! All things being equal it depends on how the weapon feels in your hands and how you respond to it when your shooting. I’m not big on guns but I do like fountain pens and I can tell if it’s a keeper or something I’ll hate almost the second I pick it up and before I write anything. Once I’ve elminated those pens that I don’t like the way they feel then I evaluate them by writing.

And what non-gun aficionado do you expect to know what “DA/SA means, Miss Manners?

God save us from pedantic “friends!”

And as for your shooting: big deal....

I'm right now WEARING my Sig RCS of the 1911 style. I love it. Put a CT Lasergrip on it and it is awesomely accurate. But I have also owned a P226 (9mm) and a Sig P245 (45acp compact) and both of those were incredible. The P226 is issued to SEALs, SAS, and a whole lot of federal agencies as well as the Texas Rangers. Pretty good endorsements if you ask me. I will probably be in the market, eventually for another P226 or a P220 at some point. I foolishly sold my old P226 some time ago. Regretted that ever since. But if you like the 1911, the Sig is a really sweet platform. Any of them conceal extremely well with the right holster like a SUPER TUCK DELUXE

Hey Tupelo, I agree with you on the Walther. They are fine weapons, extremely accurate and a pleasure to shoot. Very well made and dependable. My P5 (9mm) is my favorite of all my handguns.

Philosopher should try a Walther out before purchasing a SIG.

Take a good look at the Beretta Nano. I was very impressed when I saw it's accuracy from such a tiny platform and almost identical to the Kel Tec and the Kahr.

The P228 is the best off the rack 9mm handgun made IMO!

I carry a CZ and it is as if molded into my hands.

Others like the block of wood type grip (1911 or Glocks) but I like to know I have hold of the gun.

I have shot everything I can find through my CZ82 and have had one problem ... I shot an aluminum casing and the extractor ripped the base off the spent shell and didn’t chamber the next round. My carry ammo is Hornady special hollowpoints and my practice ammo is Seiler&Belloit. That gun is a bullet hose! I deoend on it so much that I’ve purchased two extra mags so I can rotate ammo every other month and ‘rest’ the mag springs on two at a time.

First of all, sunshine, what non-gun aficionado do you expect to know what "dual mode“ means?

Second most people don't offer advice on topics they're not familiar with.

As for my shooting skills, try splitting a playing card at 21 feet with a handgun.

Have a nice day.

I have 3 Sig's, a 220 in 45ACP a 229Sport in 357 Sig and a 239 in 9mm. I will recommend them over any other brand on the market. Reliable, extremely accurate and hold their value well. The 229S has been riding in the truck with me for several years and has taken several coyotes and hog's.

I have a Browning High Power 9mm..
Then you own the best. Don’t make the mistake I did and sell it.

I like my SIG’s but I love my Hi-Powers, I have 22 of them all pre 1983 except for one and it started as a 40 but I sent it to NOVAK and it’s now chambered in 357 SIG and it’s a shooter.

So why did you ask a question you already knew the answer to, you pedantic little pischer?

I expect someone who doesn’t know guns to recognize “two modes” is not “one mode,” and therefore less consistent, by definition.

Second, concluding I am unfamiliar with the topic because I’m not talking “inside baseball” to a poster that clearly has little knowledge of Sigs is just plain asinine.

I refer to trigger functions as “mode” because I prefer either dao OR single action to DA/SA. Again, because of the consistancy issue. My choice of verbage communicates that efficiently without getting into a lesson on triggers, and would be perfectly
understandable to experienced shooters who don’t wet their panties over matters of convention.

Finally, splitting a card at seven yards just ain’t that hard.
