I'm in the market for a pistol and was talking to a client of mine (ex RAF EOD) who has a pretty good collection (and a shooting gallery in his basement) and he mentioned the Sig Sauer as his favorite (along with the Baretta) but I can't remember which model he mentioned.
Anyone have any advice on Sigs in general and which models are worth checking out?
LOL Love My Rockies LOL
Duty gun in the day P226. Still completely love it.
EDC gun right now. p239.
It’s an individual choice. My individual thinks sigs rock!
Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers
It seemed like they loaded up once and shot em for 6 hours
I have an old 230 in .380. It’s sweet but you should be looking for a 9pm or .40. I hear the Sigs are deservedly well loved in these calibers.
I have been watching Roy Rogers short movies for a few weeks.
Roy always has two Nickled Colt .45 Peacemakers with 4-5/8 inch barrels.
Dale carries what looks like a blue 4 inch S&W Military and Police with the standard small grips.
Used to have one...but then the boating accident way out and sea...well, lost all my guns. Sorry.
Sigs are some of the finest guns out there.
I just don’t like two mode triggers.
I have shot a Sig 220, local police issue. .45 cal.
Really, really nice.
If I were to own a handgun it would be one of the top 2 or 3 on my list.
A friend just got their version of the 1911 and loves it.
Then you own the best. Don't make the mistake I did and sell it.
In my former profession I carried, 1st the Sig P220 in 45ACP. 2nd I retired with the issued P229 in 357Sig.I also have a Sig P230 in .380 that I carried off duty. These in my opinion are some of the finest weapons made. I was also a Certified Police Firearms Instructor, so if I may add one hint about Sig Sauer Pistols: one must always keep them lubricated very genererously. Do that and they will never fail. Just remember they do not like a dry slide.
Those pesky boating accidents are sure a problem
It’s so funny, the Kimber always gets showed off but the Rock is just that...the rock. Take her to battle any day.
I love DA/SA triggers.
I had a P220 and P239. IMO they aren’t worth the extra money. I know that some people love them, but I think that’s just because they spent so much. The ergonomics of the grip are as good as most semi-autos, but nothing special. The trigger pull is too long in DA mode, and not really spectacular in SA mode (according to Sig fans, this is one of its strongest points). Like any good semi-auto, it is more accurate than the shooter when firing off-hand. Overall, its an average semi-auto for a top-tier manufacturer, but not worth the premium price when compared to something like a PX4 Storm.
That is Sweeet!
