Ever See An Eagle Do The Breast Stroke? This footage was taken at MallardLakes subdivision in Baton Rouge .. Someone had shot a nutria, and it was floating dead in the water. I can't believe what this eagle did to bring that nutria in. I never saw an Eagle doing a breast-stroke before.

Not a breaststroke. More like a butterfly.
Came here to say that . . . left instead.
That’s pretty cool. I had no idea Eagles would float on water or swim. He was a good swimmer. That’s not something you see everyday.
What was he trying to catch? Was it a dead fish?
When I was young, I regularly went canoeing on a favorite river in Minnesota. It was not unusual to see eagles and, on occasion, even see them swoop down for fish.
That eagle would have to be quick about it in the Northwest. Some orca would be along in a flash to turn him into a snack.
It’s a nutria. That is a mammal similar to the muskrat.
Technically, it was a butterfly stroke. Still, it was cool video.
Sorry. It was a dead nutria (which is a big rat-like animal). Apparently the folks in Baton Rouge who were taking the video had never seen an eagle do that before. As a matter of fact, I don’t think the eagle knew he could do it!
I’m from PA. Went to Seattle area for my SIL’s funeral. Went to a restaurant for a breakfast and saw at least 12 eagles around the back of the restaurant. I said “WOW! Look at all the eagles!” My brother said “Humph. Dumpster chickens.”
